I’ve had a slightly older model for over 8 years and its battery just died. I knew I could keep using it but the timer function has been very useful when I get home late from work. Thanks to your video, the battery is back on! Thank you so much!

Different models may have different screw configurations. Without seeing what yours, I can't know. Shine a flashlight on it. Might be Phillips (cross shape) or Torx (star shape).

I was very happy to find this video. Then I started unscrewing the bottom of my Zojirushi rice cooker and realized that although 3 of the screws holding the base plate in place had Philips heads, the 4th has a hex head. Unfortunately, the only hex screwdrivers I have are in a folding multi head screwdriver, and they aren't long enough to reach the deeply recessed screw. I can't imagine why they would make the 4th screw different, other than to make life difficult. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to live with resetting the clock on the device every time I set the timer, which is pretty much every night since I mostly use it for the steel cut oats I eat for breakfast. Not a big deal - it will give me an opportunity to practice patience.

That's frustrating! If you're in the UE, Harbor Freight has a long reach hex set for $8. Might also be able to find something under $10 at your local big box store or amazon.

Hi, it's Phillips screws. They are recessed approximately 1 inch (or 2cm) into the body. Most medium sized Phillips head screwdrivers should work as long as the shaft isn't too thick.

Thank you sir! I have a Tiger Rice Cooker and there's a ribbon connector attached to the circuit board. I have to take out the entire circuit board and not just a small part for the battery. I did NOT want to mess with that and was racking my brain on how to do hand gymnastics to get my soldering iron behind the board to de-solder the battery. I hadn't even considered just cutting off the terminals and taping a new battery. And voila. What I thought would have been a 1-2 hour job took me 15 minutes. My Tiger rice cooker is working 100% again!

So the rice cooker is rendered useless after this battery dies? Or will the clock come on(using electricity from cord)when you plug it in even after the battery dies?
@ScholtzLife
@ScholtzLife 2 жыл бұрын
The cooker still works with a dead battery. The default clock will come on whenever the unit is plugged in but the battery keeps the time. Thus, when the battery is dead, the clock time will be lost whenever the unit is unplugged and will need to be set each time the unit it plugged in.

On ours, like so many, the battery died. Works fine when plugged in, but the time resets each time. So every time I make rice I set the time, then the timer. Takes an extra 15 seconds. I’m intrigued by this replacement video, might try it. Fantastic rice cooker - had it for maybe 10 years.

What kind of rice are you cooking...white, brown, sushi...? The Zojirushi inner bowl has markings for type of rice and water level. For example, add 3/4 cups (180 ml) of white rice and then fill the bowl with water up to the "White Rice 2" line marking.

Belgard makes high quality components, in my opinion. I looked at other brands but kept gravitating back to Belgard. The pavers looks amazing in person. They produce a large selection of pavers and blocks so there's a good chance you'll find something you like. However, I recommend going to your local hardscape supply store and looking at Belgard plus any other brands they carry. It's beneficial to see these in person. Regarding popularity, yes I feel they are popular in 2021. I've received multiple compliments from passersby.

The newer version of this machine they made the battery MUCH harder to replace. You basically need to take the entire machine apart and remove the circuit board. They really want you to buy a new machine when the battery dies...

Ohh wow! That's disappointing. I read that come countries are enacting (or have enacted) laws that require products to be more serviceable. Bummer if Zojirushi is going in the opposite direction. Anyway, as of 2021 my battery replacement is still going strong. Thanks for your comment.

That's not all; while three of the screws at the bottom of the unit can be removed with a standard Phillips screwdriver, the other screw is a non-standard star with a prong in the center, making it impossible to remove. I tried using a power drill to wear down the prong without success. I haven't given up; I AM going to defeat this latest unwarranted attempt to lock us out just so the greedy manufacturer can make more money. Some Zojirushi employee looking for a promotion must've seen this or a similar video and said, "Oh, no; we're going to stop that right now!" People are naturally selfish but companies can be extremely greedy. Their motto remember, is, :It's not personal; it's business." This relieves them of all human feelings and compassion. An example of this is the COVID-19 vaccines released by big pharma, which they lied and told us are completely safe and necessary, but turned out to be harmful. They were clearly motivated by greed. They said they'd release their research data on the vaccines in 75 years, when everyone working on them is already dead.
