Too bad this documentary avoids mentioning that the vatican was behind the mass murder of the Huguenots, issuing orders to the king of france to wipe them out c/o catherine medici. Also, the Scots-Irish fought the catholic church in the old country primarily, not just the brits.

God Save The King. Loyalists bled and died fighting the First 'Woke' American Colonies Civil War. 175,000 of us were robbed and driven away - and thrived because we were not of the mob.

Thank you! I appreciate this excellent documentary featuring a true American hero! Especially knowing that some of my ancestors were there serving under Francis Marion. We have quite a legacy of heroes to look up to as we struggle to maintain the liberties they so valiantly fought for!

Error at 10:05 regarding the Battle of Lexington. The narrator says the British fired the first shot. Actually NOBODY knows from which side the shot was fired, and suspect it was not intentional, but accidental. However and by whomever, that shot became known as "The Shot Heard Around the World".

The release of the Parachute harness was too convoluted and difficult , tied down with the men taking too much with them, on themselves . No wonder they couldn't get out of the water. The British harness was easier. The reports of the Pilots going into too fast is due to the P'troopers having no idea how a plane works and misinterpreting the actions of the pilots. Then the stories are dubiously repeated with out checking primary sources or the facts verified .Lazy producers to this video.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The Swamp Fox was a boyhood hero of mine, mostly from the Disney produced TV show, but I was always fascinated by the Revolutionary War era. I learned later that my grandfather was name Francis Marion Bales. My great grandfather must have been a fan. Grandpa always went by Frank (for who I am named), he didn’t like his name. Of course the county Indianapolis is in is Marion County. There’s also a city named Marion in Indiana (my home state).

I've always wondered exactly HOW coincidental the drunken party with SO many Continental Officers attending actually was. It seems a trifle TOO coincidental, especially since Marion was the only one to escape capture. It wouldn't take much to convince someone to have a celebration for "Military Heroes" (whether they were or not) even if YOU were; in truth, a closet loyalist.

Walt Disney produced a remarkable series in 1963 about the great Francis Marion. Leslie Nielsen played Marion and there are also plenty of famous character actors from the era. The series can be seen right here on KZbin.

Get rid of the beach chicken on steroids. There's a reason why Rutgers doesn't use the Chanticleer for their mascot any longer. The Princeton students, their rivals, educated them by explaining that the source of why we call cowards "chickens" is because the Chanticleer in the Nun's Priest's Tale was a coward, foolish, and haughty. The Rutgers faithful realized how doltish they were appearing to the world and quickly changed it. What's our excuse?
@Olde_Hate2 ай бұрын
Change the mascot. It makes us look doltish, as if we had never read the very source of the Chanticleer who was not brave, but rather cowardly, foolish, and haughty. It is why Rutgers University stop using it. Ex Libertate, Veritas (I hope).
@Olde_Hate2 ай бұрын
I love this tradition and hope it continues. However, we need to do what Rutgers did and get rid of the Chanticleer as a mascot. Rutgers got tired of Princeton making them feel stupid by explaining to the vapid Rutgers students that the Chanticleer is the source of why we call cowards, "chickens". Hence, calling their athletes and themselves cowards without knowing it. Princeton students knew that the main lesson of the Nun's Priest's Teal was NOT to be like the Chanticleer. So, why are we calling our athletes cowards?

One of my ancestors was a brother to George Washington by his fathers’s first wife, his older brother Augustus who was a long time back cousin to me and I’m thankful to ancestry website I haven’t been on in years for letting me know that. I’m proud to be a part of the dna that helped create the independence of America. I’m proud and humbled by thier sacrifice of thier time and effort and not just going along with high taxes and dumping that tea in the Boston harbor to protest and helped make America A country. Glad the history channel put this history on here because while we are allies with the Brits now and ezoecially in WW1 and WW2 we have to remind them that we ain’t taking any mess off them back then or today.Americans don’t like high fallutimg attitudes but also see the royal family as allies now but not back then. We aren’t giving up our freedom to any dragoons we used them gators fir ammo and eat them for dinner because the Lord made us the top of the food chain.
