I feel like I'm just moving the weights when I'm with my trainer, ESPECIALLY with chest movements, and not actually engaging the muscle I'm working and building mind-muscle connection. Maybe it's cuz they're too heavy? When I try telling my trainer they insist that I can handle the weight. They only lower the weight when they see that I genuinely can't move it anymore/have poor form.

Maybe it's the movement. All movements dont work for everyone. Maybe start with a variety of pushups to find your positioning, then once you can target the muscle, find gym exercises that replicate that final feeling the pushups gave you. You may need more reps, or different hand positions. Test multiple things, dont just wait around for the day you see your trainer only.

Great channel. Im 60 and in the best shape ive been in for years. And I have more to do. Keep pushing forward bro. One thing I can tell you sometimes less is more. Especially as we are getting older. I use Mike Mentzers HIT. So I only workout twice a week. But I go forward on every workout. Because you can become overtrained. Working out back to back days. And thats when injuries can creep in..
