Hi! Dr. Wait. Millions of thanks for your lessons and sharings. Finding a source for teaching water management is so hard. Thank you very very much again.

I'm just curious if you had to purchase the WMS software package from Aquaveo or managed with the fee version?

We have the academic version of the "floodplain" edition. (The free community version doesn't allow for hydrologic modeling: www.aquaveo.com/software/wms-pricing)

Hi Isaac, excellent video! I deal with a special lining material (a combination of concrete + membrane). I wonder if you are familiar with Hydraulic Calculator of FHWA? The channel that we deal with has extreme high velocity that can reach 15-20m/s and the flow rate can be 50m3 / sec. Happy to know more on channel lining with flexible and impermeable membrane. This seems like a new way lining a channel nowadays.

20 m/s!?! 😲 That water is moving! Yes, I've used the FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox before - good stuff.

Dear professor Wait, first of all I want to thank you for sharing your videos. I’d like to ask for a favor. I passed my FE about 3months ago, now I’d like to take my PE civil structural. Maybe you remember me, I commented in one of your videos. I’d like to ask you if you could reach out professor Michaelson, happens that he uploaded a video for structural steel design but there’s only one video, I’d like to see if is possible that he could upload or make accesible that playlist. This the only one video kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6HUk5Rsrrelaq8si=8uQGJnTxqmXSx9RY , I just need to see the column design in a frame lessons. I really appreciate your help professor. Thank you so much for your help. And please never stop sharing your knowledge.

Hi, congrats on passing your FE. I believe that Dr. Michaelson has a playlist for each semester he has taught Structural Steel Design. For example: kzbin.info/aero/PLCV9OyAY5K-X6OTAJ-a9yJcxCV3V6SS5b

Dear professor Wait, thank you so much for replying, I know Doctor Mike has a playlist for his courses, but for that specific course there’s only one video and I’ve checked other playlists of the same course but apparently that specific topic is not included in the rest of the program syllabus. Thank you so much for attention.

Why doesn't he claim Medicare and Social Security withheld?
@IsaacWait9 күн бұрын
Money withheld from one's paycheck for medicare and social security does not count towards one's income tax due in a given year. Those funds are used to support specific programs.

Hi Ahmed. I'm not sure when I'll have the chance to teach CE 434 again - it would be starting August 2025 at the earliest, depending on a variety of factors. If you would like the notes for that course send me an email and I'll send you what I've got.

That's not the way to calculate D, D is a Capex vs Opex competition. In the practice is way more simple: Keep velocity in between 1~6 m/s for liquids, clean liquids 1~3, slurries or suspensions 3~6 m/s. On Gases is 10~30 m/s. Decision on taking the average, close to min or Max, has to take care of other considerations, like sanding , max conditions, revamps, etc.

Dear Professor, I`m learning with your excellent lessons the method. Just one question, is it possible to use Hardy Cross also when the flow rate outlets are unknwon. So if I want to use this method for design of fire hydrants system, by imagine that a certain number of hydrants are always fully open?
@IsaacWait6 ай бұрын
I think that you would need to make some flow rate assumptions to be able to apply the Hardy Cross method -- without flow rates then pressure loss cannot be estimated. In your case maybe you could do a sensitivity analysis to have certain hydrants fully open and see what is the system reaction. And then change which hydrants are open and perform the analysis again.
