this is an extremely specific question but i was wondering if you had an answer since it's been on my mind for a while. on Southern service trains, i've noticed on the scrolling LED displays that show the stations being called at (among other things) come in 3 font and scroll speed varieties. one is a slowly scrolling display with bold text, one is quite a bit faster with slightly slimmer text, and the other is with really slim (basically 1-LED width for the lines in the text) and scrolls by at the speed of the previously mentioned type. do you happen to know if these are always specific to what class of train they are? from some research i've seen that the Electrostar encompasses classes 375, 377 and 387 - so is it definitely the case that these different font types/speeds correspond exactly to these classes or are they perhaps random? this might sound awfully silly but i always get a thrill when i end up on a train with the slowest scrolling speed with the thicker font as it seems to be the rarest, they always have the deepest and comfiest seats too. I think the last couple ones were where i was on was a journey from East Croydon to Havant as well as a journey from Littlehampton to Portslade
