If that bomb had got hitler, this plan would've totally worked, the Prussians would've taken control, there would've been an organized surrender, there would've been no west or east germany. They probably would've been an industrious military power in 50s-60s-70s NATO. The impact on the balance of power in eastern europe and the ability of the USSR to compete would've been impacted.

I think we can all agree, German officer uniforms are an art.

People often make this mistake, but Valkyrie wasnt the actual plot, Valkyrie was a protocol for if anyone was gonna try to overthrow the government.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Even when you know how it ends, you are still on edge and hope that they can pull it off.

It is important to note that Staufenberg and his allies were not anti-fascists or opposed to the ideology of the party per se. Just because they tried to coup doesn't mean they are good people. All of them basically just tried to save their own skins. The plan was not reinstate democracy or liberal values and end the atrocities of the Reich, it was to try to salvage the bad military and economic situation their actions and inaction have lead the country in. They hoped that they could, by eliminating the Nazi leadership, put a new government in place and negotiate an armistice with either the allies or the soviets. These hopes, however, were most likely not going to work out like they wanted. When thy tried their coup in 1944 all allied nations, especially the soviets, were pretty hell bent on that unconditional surrender thing and would not have negotiated whatsoever. Germany at this point was on a sure way to loose the war no matter how you put it. And the people depicted here are not saints or freedom fighters as such. While their actions can, in the right context, be commended, and depicting historical events, even uncomfortable ones, is very important, it is easy to sympathise with these people in ways that are not, by any means, justified.

They should have done this in early 1938 when Blomberg and Fritch were ousted and Hitler was gearing up for war. Everything after that is essentially too late.

None of those regular German army men were punished because they were only following orders.

even the decorated general Erwin Rommel knew about the plot against hitler he didnt joined it but he ask for it take over the army he has also a possible successor to hitler against allies if Valkyrie got success to its goal german high command who joined the plot knew hitler decision will make germany fall thats why they need more competent leader too bad hitler only got hurt and knew all the person who with the plot eventually since Rommel technically didnt joined since he knew about it hitler made him a choice its either kill him with all of his family and tag as traitor and conspirator or just him suicide take a pill of poison tag his death a KIA and keep his family alive since they didnt know about the thing Rommel know about the plot still branded him as a hero of germany ..so sad for rommel he survive many assassination plot against him in north africa and france by both US and Britain also surviving the defense of north africa and france but died because of force suicide by his own leader

When carrying out a coup, make extra sure the leader of the troops who're your main muscle is actually loyal to your cause.

Stauffenberg should have stuck nearby to make sure Hitler was dead. When Hitler came out walking Stauffenberg pulls out a pistol and finishes the job. It's easy to say that but proof is proof.

the one part that did kinda piss me off was the Accents, completely drove it away imo. Hearing a SS Colonel speak in an American Accent or a English one, just didn't sit right with me. They could have at least SPOKE english but had either German or Austrian Accents.
