Thinking of the Anniversary of D-Day and this was stuck in my head as well as Taps. No longer on active Duty. But this is still a part of great memories! I remember wherever we were when the Call to Color was play across whichever base or station I was at. Everything Stopped. Everyone faced the direction of the flag. Most times the flag was out of sight. If in uniform a salute. If the National Athem was played and not in uniform then the traditional hand over the Heart. I remember the first time I was off base at Osan AFB in Korea even though not in Uniform everyone turned towards the base and put our hands over our hearts as the US National Anthem was played and continued until the Korean National Anthem was played. Then the triplet for the end of Color Of Course the ROK soldiers stood at attention. It seems like there was a rivalry at who could stand straightesr and motionless between the ROKs and the US. Especially the US Marines! So sad that the latest generations of civilians do not seem to have the same level of respect, pride, reverence and Patriotism as the old guard. But in many ways this is our own fault. It is the duty of every generation to pass this down. Why didn't our Children pass this down to their children and our grandchildren?
