thx for the advice ... much appreciated ... i've just figured out that the cap of a 5cl Jack Daniels whiskey glass bottle is the perfect fit to the dunecrawlers weapons .... [cause you mentioned that you wanted more of those cylindrical type parts]

What do you mean by watering it down? I’m currently trying to paint a large staff, and this is the best tutorial I found.

I add roughly 2 parts water to 1 part paint to make a "glaze". I think that's the part you're talking about :)

I'm finally making the jump into full 40k from playing KillTeam for the past year. This Tech Priest is going to be leading my first army. She looks awesome, but I think she needs an extra servo skull with little legs to be using the pistols.

Could you list what brushes you used for each part? Trying to learn brushes as well, specifically, what one for the teeth?

Excellent tutorial. Any reason why you start with the lightest colour first? Is it just because painting deductively gives you a little bit more room for error? 🤔

I thought it would be easier to darken it down than highlight - though you definitely could do it in reverse.

Hey I love this guide. Going to finally try to paint my own set soon and im looking to follow this tutorial. I had a question: should i apply the matte varnish after the level 1 varnish before I move on to the level 2 paint job or if should I only do it after level 2 if I intend to go that far?

Yours is the Best style I found. Quick and good results. Some people spend way too much time in painting wood for a siliar result and sometimes it comes too dark for my taste.

Hint for anyone starting out with oil washes: Ivory black isn't the only black pigment oil paint out there, and it has a brownish tone when heavily thinned. If you want a truer black for panel lining or whatever, look for carbon black or lamp black oil paints.

A hair dryer on the coolest setting is handy to quickly get the oils touch dry for removal. I'd do that when I don't want to wait the 15-30 minutes for them to do it naturally.

Well well, I'm viewer nr 5. As a tip for people that want to play around with washes - try to get some small jars or bottles a d a funnel. I have five small 50ml bottles on my shelf, I bought specifically for their shape, and also for whisky inside them. I made premixed washes, each for different color, its a waste of time to mix new wash every timeI. f I need some more I use pippette or even brush to pull some into a cup and and add odorless thinner. I also recommend stainless steel littlee measuring kitchen cup for mixing. Quick wipe with paper towell cleans it perfectly. I also have separat jar that I use as a dump for all kind of oil washes, it's just super dark brown now. Small 50 ml glass bottles from whisky are the best, you can get drunk and then spill brownoil wash everywhere because you forgot its unscrewd
@HeroesBosses6 ай бұрын
Yeah, you definitely want a "dump" bottle for all your waste.

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you attach the model now? Simple super glue or does this require drilling and pinning?
@HeroesBosses Жыл бұрын
Super glue should work fine if the model has a big attachment point. If find that's fine for most models. If the model has a small attachment point, then pin. I normally would press the feet of the model into the green stuff before it hardens to make sure the feet will sit properly.
@HD-tg1be Жыл бұрын
Dude, why would there be a glow under the eye ? if the eyes glows, the light will hit more strongly the surface that is the most oriented toward the eye , in our case the "brow" above the eye , or rather the edgeof the brow
@HeroesBosses Жыл бұрын
You're right, however most people paint the glow under the eye - this is because if you're playing 40k, you're typically looking down at the model, and you won't see under the brow. Most people don't bother painting under the model, unless it's for competition where judges will inspect underneath to see how thorough you were :)
@flameknightdragon Жыл бұрын
Do you still use this recipe? I have all the stuff you shown and it keeps turning out watery and leave bad stain spots when it dries.
@HeroesBosses Жыл бұрын
I would only use it on terrain - not models. But to answer your question, I almost never use washes anymore, and if I do they're usually watered down contrast paints. I tend to go with a zenithal prime these days for terrain, then I sponge on grime afterwards.
