I did this for a season. But I had a small 18' holiday trailer to live in and a pasture to live on. I was paying $2000/month rent and utilities. Then I went to paying $50/month and no utilities. The savings start building quickly at that point. It's even better if you don't have a vehicle payment ontop of all that. It's definitely enjoyable for a season, but not long term. Enjoy the freedom my friend.

Thank you my friend. I own the car so there's no vehicle payments, the savings are a huge help right now. The trailer + pasture combo sounds awesome! We'll see how long I last freedom camping out here, I think eventually upgrading to a van could easily extend my time on the road.

Best of luck! I've been quite into minimalism for about 5+ years or and am I still minimising. Most recently I've finally gotten around to selling things like collectibles that simply just stay on my shelf and gather dust. Also try to part with my tech too!
@Kenan-John2 ай бұрын
Thank you! It feels like it's going to be a continuous process for a very long time ^^ It's hard to part with good tech because its made to last and feels good to own, thats why I think it was a great place to start. Who or what was your inspiration to get started?
@unaminhkavanagh2 ай бұрын
@@Kenan-John My initial inspiration was just before the pandemic so following people like the Minimalists and their journey and was deep into their content. Then from there moved to people like Joshua Becker, Greg McKeown, a lot of minimalist KZbinrs (some who stopped). Then I found that it overlapped with a lot of my meditation stuff so I followed people like Dan Harris, Sam Harris and other folks. A lot of the content overall is repetitive but I find that rehearing things over and over again really helps me remember what's important. I did things like wearing the same outfit for a month and digital minimalism (big fan of Cal Newport). And I enjoy Rob Greenfield's content too! Marie Kondo's original books I enjoyed as well but don't really like where she's heading now but can appreciate her older work. It's funny that you mention streaming, I used to stream as well but have taken a break, but even with streaming I have so much extra tech e.g. streamdeck, elgato, mics etc etc. Funny how that all builds up!

Forgot to add, I love Logitech products and personally, the mouse I use is the ergonomic vertical mouse Lift. Highly recommend it! But I work most days at a comp so makes more sense!
@Kenan-John2 ай бұрын
I haven't seen that mouse before but it seems awesome! Maybe I should do a review or a comparison with the pebble ^^ Your mouse has: -Better battery life (24months vs 18months) -Higher DPI (4000 vs 1000) -An ergonomic design for better wrist support All-round seems amazing! Just larger and more expensive For PC peripherals, Logitech is just the way to go, especially wirelessly
@Kenan-John2 ай бұрын
Haha yeah, it's easy to get excited about something like streaming and buying all the tech and gadgets, only for them to eventually sit around and collect dust. I see it as a natural cycle, and its always best to sell what you're not using so you can get what you need. What sort of content did you stream? I'm currently thinking of trying it again but I streamed games which was super easy, not sure what I'd stream now that I'm not gaming all that much You've got quite the extensive list! Greg McKeown was also a major inspiration for me, I'll have to look into some of the other names for my own inspiration. I agree that you've got to come back every now and then to remind yourself of what's important. Every few months I go on a "Motivational Speech" binge ^^ I'm also keen to try some of those things, I've found meditation helps a ton with digital minimalism, and I'll look into reading Cal Newport's book next!

Hey thanks for the feedback! It's good to know what kind of videos people like, I'm still trying to figure out what direction to take my channel in and this helps a lot! I'm studying computer science and information systems. I initially started studying game design in South Africa, but when I got the opportunity to move to New Zealand I thought I'd broaden my opportunities by switching. It helps especially that I discovered a passion for coding when I first started Game Dev :))

Honestly, pretty good video. It just lacks a bit of focus. Are you really talking about making the app or the app itself? If it’s the first one, I’d recommend you going into more detail regarding the language and software you used. With short clips and examples. Would also have been cool to see the growth of the app, including fails and triumphs If you’re trying to advertise the app, it’s actually a solid bit in the end. Just think the AI part could have been more in depth and it would’ve helped advertise the app as well.
@Kenan-John3 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the in-depth feedback! You're right, I could (and definitely should) go in to more detail regarding the actual development process. I'm not really sure exactly how I would go about this, but you've sparked the thinking process ✨ I'll be working on a video about game development soon, and I'll try to go more in-depth into the code and explanations so that I can make even better videos in the future Focus could be improved too, I think it comes down to better planning and script writing, with an emphasis on the deliverables. Thank you again for the feedback, I'm very invested in making high quality content, and knowing my own weaknesses is very important for that :)

What is about the weight? Okay you can pack more. But the weight is also higher. That can be a problem.
@Kenan-John3 ай бұрын
Yeah true, this video was just about seeing how many I could fit in, Here's the weights of everything: Small: 110g Medium: 144g 140g per shirt 250g per pair of pants And the weight of my backpack is 1.86kg So if I packed my bag with 16 shirts and 4 pants it would weigh: 5.354kg Usually airlines let you have carry-on up to 7kg, so you'd still be able to fit other essentials in the bag

Congratulations on your first video! I have two other KZbin channels that I create videos for… And believe me it’s been a very difficult journey, trying to juggle doing that and everything else in your life Consistency is very difficult Which is why I’m constantly striving towards minimalism by decluttering every month, I’ve been selling so much of my personal belongings online that I’ve made over $800 already in 2024 I’m about to renew my lease and stay in the same apartment for the sixth year in a 650 square-foot one bedroom apartment but it’s beautiful and I actually love the challenge of getting rid of things and selling them instead of buying more for a larger space So good for you !
@Kenan-John4 ай бұрын
Hey thank you very much, two channels sounds like a lot! I've got full time study and a job to juggle, but I'm pretty sure I can manage it if I put the work in I can relate with selling all of my things, I just sold my gaming Headset and Keyboard yesterday (Not doing much gaming anymore), and its very freeing I appreciate the comment and the support, thanks again :)
