This is almost a living Constable painting. I grew up around countryside not unlike this (Pett is Sussex). This is one of the finest animations you have done. I love the light on the distant roofs, the subtle depth haze, the lightscape from background to fore, and of course, the animated plants. I can only imagine how long the plant animations took. Did you have to animate by hand? I really wish you would do more of these pastoral or summer scenes. A thought for you; I know the 8 hour live videos increase your time at the top of people's feeds (to an annoying extent if I am honest), but it appears to decrease engagement. What is the point of leaving a comment that will be soon gone, others can't directly respond to, and you will never answer?
@AmbientRenders2 күн бұрын
Hi Matt, cheers, this is a recreation of a Jacob Van Ruisdael painting from the 1600’s. I would like to make more painting recreations as it’s a nice challenge, but it also depends on how many views it will get. These daylight views don’t gain much traction so I’m less likely to make more of them as the time it takes vs view count doesn’t add up. I’m more likely to create more sci-fi scenes tbh. But I want to do more of these. The grass and plants are a foliage system, but you need to set up the meshes to work to get them to animate nicely 👍 I don’t quite understand your second paragraph? Are you saying that I never reply to comments? YT studio doesn’t always show all of them so I can’t reply to what I don’t see? Apologies.
@matbroomfield2 күн бұрын
@@AmbientRenders I respect it even more now I know it's your version of a famous painting. "Landscape with village in the Distance" I assume? Magnificent, and what a wonderful artist. A lot of his stuff is similar, but if I had those views, I wouldn't feel the need to do any different. However you did the foliage, you did a really nice job! As for my second paragraph, no, I was not suggesting that you do not respond, as I have had the pleasure of speaking to you on multiple occasions. However, with live videos, we don't get to leave permanent comments UNDER the video where you most frequently engage, and there's no point leaving them in the live feed as they scroll past, and are soon gone. Does that clarify my position?
@AmbientRenders2 күн бұрын
@@matbroomfield Ahh I see! yes I get you now, and it’s always good to chat with you Matt, you have been with me for years! Cheers again mate 👍 the live stream is a huge subject that I could discuss for hours, but simply it works on many levels, I hope it works for those that wish to leave my scenes running constantly without it stopping, many people like to do that, and I love that, so I am more than happy to oblige. For me it works, because for YT to recommend my channel I have to post often, and I mean a LOT to stay relevant, this is very hard for me as I put so much time into each scene, there can sometimes be huge gaps where I never post! I don’t know if you have noticed but this genre is totally saturated these days too, AI generated channels all over the place that post relentlessly, and this stops my channel being recommended by YT as I don’t post very often, so I can’t afford not to keep posting. So the live streams help tide me over whilst I work on other scenes. I hope that makes sense, I am hoping that I post scenes quicker now as I recently have been made redundant from my games studio( the whole studio was laid off) so I should have more time to make videos, although not having a job is scary now that I have to totally rely on YT revenue. So I need to get working on my channel a lot more from now on, so there will be more content from me I’m afraid, I have to now, otherwise I might have to stop, and I wish to grow and evolve my content for many years to come yet 😯

@@AmbientRenders Yes, I've seen the carnage in the gaming industry this year. I never thought it was THAT dependable a career, but many big companies have really showed the contempt they feel for their staff. One of my martial arts students is just finishing a gaming course at college and I can't tell you how relieved I was when he announced that it is not a career he plans to pursue after all. So sorry about your situation. My fear is that you've gone from one capricious career straight into another, and your entire future depends upon algorithms that change with no logic, and are not made public. I suspected that your choices were tactical rather than artistic regarding the way that you release your work. I have to say, I think in general, long format videos have really harmed youtube, with everyone vying to fill the top of my play list. I can certainly understand the logic of why you do so, and I do not criticise you, especially in your current position, for doing all you can to maximise your visibility. In general, I find it incredibly sad when art has to compromise for the sake of the format or financial considerations, but I have had to make similar compromises on occasion as well. I have noticed quite a few players entering your market, although most of the ones I know, use Blender rather than Unreal Engine as you do. It saddens me, when you are producing such incredible work, that youtube makes you compete alongside no effort garbage. It's like pitting Beethoven against a crappy boy band. From what you have said, this is an all or nothing point in your life, with some variables completely beyond your control. I very much hope that you can make a success of it. I've been self employed for over 30 years, and have sacrificed a higher standard of living for autonomy. I can't imagine living any other way. Very best wishes for your success!

Cheers Matt 👍 And thank you for such a generous KoFi donation 🙏 The games industry is going through a very strange time right now, it will be fine, it’s just not great at the moment 👍 I’m no spring chicken so my chances of changing career are slim these days so just doing what I can. By the way if you get recommended loads of channel you don’t want flooding your feed you should be able to hide those channels, I went on a rampage doing this a while ago and my feed is much better for it 🙂 But thanks again I appreciate it 👍 P.S I trained in martial arts for many years, mostly kung fu, boxing and Muay Thai, a big fan of what you do 👍

I wonder if there's any correlation between trauma/growing up in poverty/etc and finding things like this relaxing. I mean, like many in the comments, I feel oddly soothed by scenarios like this, and I know that I actually, in real life, feel oddly comfortable in real dangerous environments/life-or-death situations... which I would explain as being due to the fact that I am way too mixed-up not to constantly struggle at being a normal member of society, but I instantly shine and earn a lot of respect in actual crises because I grew up with too many to be freaked out in them now. In crises, all the complicated bullshit of navigating society is thrown out the window and everything is reduced to crystal clear priorities and goals; basic, practical skills like building fires in the rain, setting up camouflaged shelter, navigating in the dark, shoplifting, fighting, etc. become invaluable instead of criminal. Having no fear of injury or death is *usually* pretty much useless at the modern workplace, if not a liability (OSHA *needs* for you to care about injury and death)--but if you get caught in a life-or-death crisis with regular folks, it kinda instantly makes you the leader since you're the only one that can act decisively. I just hope eventually someone will make a good 12-hour long ambience that is the sound of a trainyard from the bushes just outside its borders. As well as the never-ending BOOOM-BOOM...BOOM-BOOM... of cars driving overhead while you're camping in the little spot at the top of the slope beneath a big highway overpass.
