I've been there. And I just said forget I'll just let it grow out. Next beeswax is NOT a good solution that's why your hair was so dry when you took it loose. And washing, well most won't go with this, but washing once a month and some aren't going to believe this either, it makes your locs thin out over time. Being an island girl I've never understood why the Afro American woman felt that adding oil to you hair is needed. Our hair is naturally based with oil, moisturizer is best. Shea butter is better and the more you twist makes it break and you can thin your hairline .. just let it go and enjoy the process
@gailpdesigns4 ай бұрын
Thanks I actually did stop using beeswax and started using Design essential moisturizer and water and ya'll were absolutely right!

My feels great when it's saturated but water but child when it drys up it DRYS UP!! LOL... I'm considering buying distilled water and trying that instead of water from faucet. Hey. I used to use bees wax when I was a loose natural and did two strand twist. Turns out it was breaking my ends. Then I switched to locs because I figured I just didn’t know how to care for loose natural hair. I personally loved how the beeswax had my two strand twist looking that I used it all the time. I didn’t know that it was causing split ends. I’ve heard with locs not to use beeswax because in the long run it causes buildup and your hair locs And it won’t come out. I stopped using it after what it did too my loose hair although it held my twist out very well.
@gailpdesigns2 жыл бұрын
OMG...split ends..I tried Lanolin and water and it has seemed to work! It also leaves my hair soft and moisturized. Thanks for this information, I had no idea about the split ends. I totally was experiencing this.

Hey. I wouldn’t use bees wax myself. Although, I have fine textured hair and mine have loc’d without the use of it. Washing frequently at first would usually help the locing process. However, i hear you about being afraid of the shrinking and frizzing process. Nevertheless, all that is part of the journey. I won’t lie, it’s rough at first but the pay off is great. Suggestions: try not to style too much, cut off your ends, and use too much product. Certain wax, oils and gels that are not water based will eventually cause build-up which will be very hard or impossible to remove after your hair is loc’d. It’s trial and error throughout your whole journey and patience is key. If you really want this; you will find the reward down the road. God bless. ✌️
