the problem with welding is how much adequate equipment costs. despite the fact that 90% of welding is gas mig, mig machines often cost 3 or 4 times other processes.

Found out the trade school ive started teaching at is using this as a teaching material and oh my god is this embarassing to realise. Plasma cutting and your gloves have hole the length of your entire finger plus the short sleeve tshirt and no mention of any shaded eyewear When you put the material in the cold saw and completely fail to use the second handle on the vice, wonderful way to invite material to slip and shatter your $300~ cold saw blade. Using waaaay too much force on the friction saw rather than letting the blade do the work, plus the whole "wear hearing protection", immediately followed by getting to see your head dip into frame showing your lack of either earmuffs or buds Complete lack of safety specs on the bandsaw, and im not going to pretend i dont know how LOW the risk to your eyes is in that situation, but we know the risk is above zero and anyone whos spent years around bamdsaes, particularly larger indistrual models will know ending up with some chips on your face once in a blue moon is something that happens And the wonderful grinder section where you leave the cut line of the tube on the bench rather than hanging it over the end, meaning instead of being able to angle the sparks down at the ground, your only option is to send the sparks straight into your guts or accross the shop with no regard for whoever happens to be behind you. Having shit training materials that bores learners is one thing, but this is next level bad and the students genuinely make fun of how atrocious it is. Genuinely embarassing to realise this is the material the school im supposed to represent is using.

You should heat treat it before painting to remove internal stresses, and harden the surface, otherwise, if you're using it to bend steel, you will soon have erosion on your tool

I find it amusing when people call metal sections, "scrap" as though it were worth nothing at all. Go to any metal outlet or fab shop and ask for "scrap" metal and you will be instantly corrected. These smaller pieces of metal are not called "scrap" but "cutoffs" and have value, usually by the pound. They aren't necessarily cheaper for all that unless the vendor knows you and likes you or is too busy to do the calculations, you WILL pay the going price for metals.

Fabulous information that I'll save. Not to be critical, but we don't need to see you do the weld, which would cut your video time in half or thereabout.

Absolutely awesome man but I need to bend a 6 x 24 x 1/8 inch plate down the long side. I need approximately a 1 inch radius. I need it to repair a dent in the body of my dump truck.

Thanks for the tips! I was looking for a way to make a jig to mount square tubing vertically in a 10" miter saw with abrasive disc. I noticed it overheats very easy and eats the plastic cheap runners on the sled sometimes.

WoW! Now I realize I have been welding way too fast! That weld is awesome! Time to practice that slow travel speed...(How long is that piece in inches, please?) I want to time the weld. Also, what size wire? .030? .035? hat amperage did you have it set on? What wire speed?? Thank you for your answers...!

I would also recommend wearing dusk mask or respirator when using the abrasive disks. You don’t want to be breathing that dust.

I've passed flat horizontal and vertical fillet multipasses, I'm on overhead now. Took me awhile so far struggling but yea I've been weaving, never really tried this movement or lack of movement. Maybe I tried it once and it came out like a thin worm. Maybe I'll try again on overhead maybe it will help me not shake so much
