The Maverick replaced the Mercury Comet not the Falcon. The last Falcons were early 1970. For a short time there were Maverick bodied Comets which is still a bad spot for me 50 years later, I had a 66 Mercury Comet with a 428 4 speed, It rode well and more power then 20 of the Mavericks. To see my beloved car line turned into this junk was sad. This is why the Japan line of cars took hold and made better cars that were just as advertised with much better reliability.
