First of all WOW! What an excellent video. I too have subscribed to your channel. I do have a couple of questions. 1 where can I purchase turmeric, I have called all the grocery stores around me. 2. What is the brand of boot you have on in this video. Thank you so much for all the thorough information.

I harvested my first turmeric n ginger today. And I decided to watch a video after the fact. I'm glad that I didn't compost the root balls yet. Thanks for the tip. 👩🏽🌾

Just harvested my first year of turmeric. Since I live in Alabama as well, I’m going to replant the root balls and see if they come up in the spring. Thank you for the information and you also gained a subscriber.

You made a profound statement...dirt is good for you. There is truth in it. The chemical stuff we use to clean our utensil actually carry more harmful substances.

Hi Alex, I realize this is an old video, but wanted to let you know I enjoyed it. I am also from Alabama zone 7. Just starting out with vegetable gardening. I hope you will continue to make videos. Not often I find videos from my region. I love that you are not a professional. It makes you more relatable for me.

Grew my first turmeric this year way up in Cape Breton, Canada - in a greenhouse along with my peppers - and am delighted with the results. Thanks for the info. I didn’t know that I can replant the root ball. We like to make a ginger garlic turmeric paste and freeze them in ice cube trays for use in Indian dishes. Thanks again!

Great vid! The only additional info is store roots in peat moss in the entry. I live in zone 6b. Harvest in October and replant in May. The stored ginger didn't sprout until July and is still quite firm.

Why do you have to dry the leaves prior to making tea? Can you just boil the leaves you pluck off?
@mmsdcb90817 ай бұрын
First year planting lemon balm and the only regret I have is that I haven’t done it sooner! The leaves are delicious eaten raw and tea is wonderful! I do have a question .. should one rinse the plant before hanging to dry to get dirt, bugs etc off?

Great garden! I have some questions about making a pumpkin trellis. How far apart did you stake your pumpkin trellis (what is the width of the walking space underneath? How long is the panel and how high did it end up being?

Hi 👋...nice vid...been growing tumeric in our green house for a few years now..have tried various ways of harvesting, replanting and storing. Wanted to add a comment on storage...for me, the crisper works really nice as long as can get good air circulation as I like to use fresh as long as possible, so I use the plastic, net like bags like lemons, etc come in. In the beginning as learning I did the sand storage which I was not happy with as it caused my beautiful roots to swivel up. If mine start to look compromised in the crisper, I just dehydrate. We call those little crowns 'mothers' 😊 Maggie/WV

Thank you so much for I've been searching for just this video on how to grow and take care of turmeric and ginger. Your instructions are spot on and I'm now a subscriber of your gardening family. This is my first year growing turmeric and ginger. I have them growing successfully in containers here in zone 8a and I needed to know my next steps in harvesting, preserving and replanting. You answered all of my questions. Thanks and I'll see you in the garden 🤗

Question... I just harvested mine. When I. It into them, they aren't that orange. Wondering why... Did I hear est too early? Some of the older rough woody looking stems were deeper orange...

When do you wash the lemon balm for bugs & dirt?
@Tk-iz2ws Жыл бұрын
Clean them completely outside. Why bring the dirt into the house ? Why put the dirt down your sink drain ? Why waste that water down the drain when you could clean it outside & let the water go back into the soil ? Yep store it in sand 😊

I have grown ginger two years in a row in window box containers and had successful harvests. I have tried to grow turmeric 3 times and have not had any success. I'm searching KZbin now in order to see what I'm doing incorrectly. Thanks for this informative video. I'm in Zone 9B in the Houston area. It's October now and I am planting again tomorrow. I'll take a bite of yours if only I can.😊

I'm also in Houston and have grown turmeric in the ground for a few years. A very lazy gardener, I'm a bit late getting ready to harvest now on Feb 1 and will re-plant the mothers (with the big roots) as well as some rhizomes soon.
