@@neelanjanchatterjee5807 Thanks for the appreciation. According to the pace of work, it seems that it will be completed within three-four months easily. From Ruby to Captain Berry the stretch is fully completed. And Gour Kishor Ghosh to Salt lake also completed. But from Captain Berry to Gour Kishore Ghosh, the stretch is incomplete and work is going on. The obstacle building also has been demolished. Let's see if the metro will be operational in March 2025 or not.

Instead of Ritwik Ghatak , if the metro starts from Urbana(Anandapur) side that will be better… it can cross Ruby,Gariahat,Kalighat,New Alipore, Behala,Khidirpore, Shalimar and then towards Santragachi…. It can connect direct Anandapur to Santragachi

It's highly unlikely that Ministry of Railways will fund any new metro project with 100% financing. In all other metros in India, Ministry of Finance (Chennai metro) or Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs are funding (Like Nagpur, Delhi, Gurgaon). In most metros, state financing 30-49%. Metro at the end is state affair boosting local economy. Unless WB govt agree to fund metro project (Which is nearly impossible given high debt on state) it's not happening in near future.

@@DIPANJANMUKHERJEE-m3i Yes. And that is the reason why Howrah-Santragachi and Salt Lake-Airport metro have not started yet. And all the ongoing underconstruction metro projects are late because state government does not have any stake in metro unlike any other metro city. Running metro is the job of both central and state government but in this state the metro is completely handle by centre.

A line connecting rashbehari more ( kalighat metro ) with Ruby more is very important. Must have stations at Gariahat and Kasba in between.

এসব কল্পনা অনেক দুরস্ত। এর থেকে অনেক অনেক একটা সোজা রুট আছে যেটা তো blue line কে বালি অবধি expand করা। বর্তমানে যেখানে দক্ষিণেশ্বর মেট্রো স্টেশন আছে, সেখান থেকে বালি স্টেশন মেরেকেটে 2 কি মি দূরে অবস্থিত। কিন্তু রাজ্য সরকারের অসহযোগিতায় সেই মেট্রো expansion বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়েছে। মেট্রো কর্তৃপক্ষ চেয়েছিল দক্ষিনেস্বর কে বালির সাথে যুক্ত করতে একটা ব্রিজের মাধ্যমে। কিন্তু রাজ্য সরকার সামান্য একটা স্কাই ব্রিজের একটা এস্ক্যালেটর সরাতে বা ভাঙতে নারাজ।

A 2nd East-West line is required but this route is flawed technically on multiple levels and hence impossible, also constructing the 2nd east-west line so close to line 2 won't help a lot in the long term

Barackpor metro is cancelled. The project has been shelved by railways long back. Instead after howrah Maidan completion they are eyeing for metro upto chandannagar now

According to Kolkata metro, the Barrackpore Metro project is not cancelled. If it was cancelled then why they put Barrackpore Metro route on their official map? Also in every newly opened stations like Majerhat, Esplanade or Howrah they have clearly mention the route on their maps

@@Hodophile-vh6ny bro do some research metro railway kolkata has not officially cancelled it due to some formalities but unofficially this project is shelved that’s why on new metro its still there According to a MM of kolkata metro. After 2012 they have not even tried to acquire land for this project leave aside the pipeline issue.

​@@sandipgarai6074 I don't know if you know about this but still just want to inform you that when Kolkata metro made the dakshineswar line via baranagr noapara they made an extension of baranagar line so I think that extention is made for barrackpore line otherwise I don't see any sense and btw I have travelled few times using baranagar metro station so I have seen the extension a lot of times!

@@tusharmondal8056 if barrackpore metro was to be built then baranagar station would have 2 more pfs just like noapara (which is for airport metro) and there’s no extension..according to plan if it was ever built the metro would take a sharp sharp right turn towards BT road from baranagar metro.

Barackpor is not an important area that’s why they are not focusing much leaving pipelines there are many land acquisition issues which is impossible acquire right now. Same for Barasat metro its still under construction just because of airport. After airport onwards work is stopped due to AAI not giving permissions and i have feeling they shelve the rest airport barasat section after 1-2 years

No, currently not. You can catch metro from behala chowrasta and go to majerhat(when it's open), then you have to take the bus from majerhat to Park Street. However, after completing the whole line 3, you can take metro from behala to Park Street.🙂
