Abu Bakra once came late to join a congregational prayer led by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). When he entered the mosque, he saw that the congregation was already in the bowing position (ruku’). In his haste, Abu Bakra performed the takbir (opening declaration of "Allahu Akbar") outside the prayer rows and bowed while rushing to join the congregation. After the prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) addressed him and said: "May Allah increase your eagerness (for prayer), but do not do this again." (Sunan Abi Dawood, Hadith 585; Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith 783)
