2:59 Sorry REI, how 'bout this, you issue two bear canisters, one for food, and one for human waste... because putting both in the same one is not "a little weird", that's a deal breaker.

When I was little, Dad used to go up there for his training duty (he was a communications officer attached to carriers) and we all got to stay at the BOQ in the late 1960's. I still remember us going to have breakfast at the Officers Club. They made the best bacon and eggs ever. And that was the only time I ever got to walk up the gangway on the USS Constellation. Got piped aboard and everything, that was exciting to a 5 year old lol

I have blood pressure issues, but I would love to do what you do. People dont understand how much harder Denali is to climb than Everest. 1) You can only safely reach it by a few hour plane ride. 2) Its 3,000+' taller than Mt Everest from Base to Summit. 3) There isnt nice pathways carved ahead by Sherpa and marched over by 300+ people, at Denali. 4) The weather is FAR less forgiving than in Nepal. Kudos bro, this is a feat of legendary status. Denali only lets the best reach its peak.

Great video - thank you for doing this! I was stationed there from 86-89 at SIMA SF (on NAS Alameda). As others have said, brings back a lot of good memories. I live out of the area now, so it's nice to get a little tour of the base, and you did it well.

I'm in my last 2 weeks of my Docents course. I love the guest interaction I get when I'm on board. The Veteran Docents are a wealth of historical information. If anyone gets the chance to visit, please take time to talk to these heroes.

Excellent videography and narration! I too stayed at the Swiss Alaska Inn and flew with K2 Aviation (with Jim Okonek, the founder) in 1986 on my first Denali expedition. You were wise in choosing a guided approach, not just for improved summit odds, but because you get to learn about how to approach the mountain, when to be patient and when to move out. Blessings, Steve
