I rode in an. 1955 or 1960 Reo truck. Like this one. tractor- trailer unit as a. young kid. hitchhiking from. Arborfield , Saskatchewan too Melfort , Saskatchewan in the Late spring or early. fall about. 1963 or 1964 I. was about 15 or 16 year’s old and I remember the truck was. either a white colour or Light grey and the trailer he was pulling. was a highboy or straight deck trailer it was real fun then / Bill S. O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 This is one sweet looking REO! My dad bought many new & used REO trucks back in the day. He even owned a few REO cars. He loved the trucks! I have a 1951 REO that he bought new. 6 cylinder Gold Comet engine. It’s stuck & will eventually get replaced with a newer engine, but I do remember that it would run well & had many miles on it. He got about mpg when pulling a tanker back in the day. Nice trucks. Thanks for sharing your truck! Blessings.🥰😎✌️

The problems with that model tractor was that it had a dry clutch and dry brake pads...engine was fine

My uncle farmed with one of these in the early 70s. We borrowed it a few times when our 550 wasn`t up to the job we was doing. I got to drive ii the 30 miles from his place to ours over back roads. Quite exciting for a kid!

Nice looking truck looks like it has the Gold Comet 6cyl gasoline engine they were a good reliable heavy duty engine I think they were around 200 horsepower.

Yeah looked that way to me too, we had some Whites with that engine back in the 70's. I think they were a 6-200-A

I think your right...and you could hardly hear that truck...good torque for gas engine...would rival a few diesels today...only downside...not super economical

@@DanielWoodenJr.-cm4qd I think ours got between 3 and 4 mpg. Our R Models with ENDT675 engines got about 6. One nice thing about the gas jobs was they were light. Great for those loads of steel coils coming out of the mill and only going a few miles

@@joecummings1260 Another thing was gas engines started better in winter...but diesels tended to run cooler in summer

@@DanielWoodenJr.-cm4qd I am a retired truck mechanic and I worked on trucks just like this one in the early 1970s I overhauled some of those 6 cylinders they were very heavy duty if I remember back they had replaceable wet cylinder sleeves and ENGINE oil coolers the ones we had were just running local probably 20 mile round trip, we also had something diesels also they were mixer trucks and block trucks. Only drawback was we were running those gas engine's on propane and that really cuts the power.

Lizards or Tewrecks are just hard to load without a pusher or straight down hill. And all the front motors were killed by just pulling the foot feed up.

Awesome two-stroke machine. Looks like the power balance needs to be shifted to the rear a little, but what do I know.

Nice! Whats the motor in the rear do? Front engine powers front wheels, rear engine powers rear wheels?
@shadovanish7435

Yes. Provides greater traction of course, but often a bulldozer is used for additional pushing force to move the scraper during excavation & loading. Once the scraper is loaded, the scraper bowl is raised, & the scraper can then move unassisted by the bulldozer.
