Buffet had a time factor written into his offer. That way LTCM did not have time to try to make counter deals. That is why the deal fell thru.

Damn that kinda sucks they were actually right😂, they just were a bit too levered and no one had any sort of risk appetite to keep lending them funds to keep the trade on.

I met Ione Allen in 1974 at a SMPTE meeting in Memphis, TN. I was years old, and didn't have a background in electronics engineering, which I gained many years later. I stood there in a group of 3 members listening to Mr. Allen explain how Dolby NR works. He stared directly at me, and I've never forgotten his intensity, or the excitement I felt as he looked at me like I should understand this new topic.

I appreciate that audience is mostly business orientated - school of management, but goodness me they have no clue about art of film, music plus technology like Dolby. Painful to listen to their questions, plus no one even got his jokes.

Thank you very much for the upload, it was a very interesting. The only downside were the very simplistic questions which i feel he had already answered during the presentation.

Pooled some money, and raised ~25m, and bought a few companies, then did op improvements, then went global (i think they shouldve stayed focused in the US), then internal consulting to super comb thru metrics of companies and be industry strong, had a regal cinemas mishap Give up 21% of KKR to become public??

I have found my first convergence and it is a big one. A 2024 bond yielding 7,45% and the 2025 bond at 10,39% with a gap that was a lot larger one month ago when the company had the bond market worried. Intrum, euro-bonds XS...168 vs XS...017 Thank you math wizards, now I can blow up too!

Henry is kind of a dick. He killed Nabisco and RJR just because he's bald and thought he was more intelligent than Ross Johnson. So Henry outlives all the RJR people, but the company is gone. KKR took the fun out of running big business.

Watching this in 2022 completely reinforces that you must be certifiably insane to have all your capital within the banking system. $2 Trillion per night is now being injected into the overnight repo. We are dead financially, it is gone folks.

If spread stays the same, a single percentage point amounts to different amount of dollars because the price of bonds that are long is different than price of bonds that are short.

You started a hedge fund but did not hedge. I think congress should pass legislation to make that a federal crime retroactive 50 years back. The penalty would be hanging. You and the other nobel prize winning frauds.

Hubris at LTCM was collective. On their own, Scholes and Rosenfeld have a lot of wisdom to offer. These are great lectures.

I am so interested in the great architect and artist that planned my local golf course , Deer Creek, in Overland Park, KS. The people of this neighborhood feel privaledged and honored to have had this man design our course. Unfortunately the city is attempting to sell out our beautiful course. We need your help sir. This is an amazing post-mortem by Dr. Rosenfeld. 1:21:22: "Could this happen again?" "I think we were a different beast than a lot of hedge-funds. We were more like a little Lehman Brothers, an intermediary" You can't make this up
