I took this video to the breakfast table to show my son. He’s a retired US Air Force meteorologist. He stopped eating and couldn’t take his eyes off it while you were going through all the temperatures until the end. He never closed his mouth. I don’t think a meteorologist has ever seen the weather in quite this way. I was of course entertained by just watching his face. This is beautiful work and should really find its way into a time capsule one day. I plan to start one of my own. We live in the Deep South in Mississippi. I will have to intersperse it with lightning strikes and choose a special color combination for hurricanes. I’ll use larger beads for hail and perhaps some longer stitches for wind. Still thinking about how to do tornadoes. Thank you so much for this. Truly beautiful and inspiring. I had no idea people were doing this. Brilliant idea. Art as the imitation of nature in its truest form!😅

Yes this was interesting and enjoyable Sarah. I feel very privileged to have been allowed to see your year of drawing thank you. I'm not sure I could handle it every day but maybe I could manage a couple of times a week or maybe a short timed session each morning or something. I will try. Love Vera in Northern Ireland ❤

My grandma, a seamstress, the most important person in my life, would have had a few things to say to me as I start this wonderful craft. I can hear her words in my head❤️. However she would have also appreciated the feel and creative process and would have had a great experience with this. Thank you so much for drawing me closer to her as I return to hand (slow) stitching. I learned Embroidery from her. Now I will apply those techniques in a revised way. So beautiful

I think that this would be a lovely way of putting together samplers, and using the book to review what I learned. I love the idea! Your delightful book with the sweet ribbon tie reminds me of the Victorian era. 💞 It is a worthwhile project to create.

Caroline, it is wonderful to see how happy and joyful this type of stitching makes you. I am so inspired to use your technique with painting the fabric first, would you have an alternative to the inktense medium? It is lovely to see the synergy between you and Sarah, your both so incredibly talented, and you seemed the most relaxed I have ever seen you, I would love to see more videos like this, as I'm sure your other subscribers would. You have opened up a whole new world of free style stitching without having to add fabrics as a base, which can get frustrating at times. Being able to use just thread, beads and shells on the painted background makes me feel like the possibilities are endless. Thank-you Caroline for sharing this technique with us all, your perception of the actual image was 100% better than the original. I love the spontaneity of your pieces! Any advice about using other mediums would be much appreciated, the inktense are definitely on my wish list, but I also loved the water colour background with beads that Sarah showed, is that a technique you use also? I would love to see a video of that. I'm so excited to get started now. It feels like a whole new world has opened up with all the ideas i have. ❤ Sending big hugs to you both from down under. Xx

A little slow stitch book will be perfect for the bits of lace and tiny flower material i saved while I sewed for my daughter as she grew up. I was saving the bits for a little girl grandaughter quilt. 8 grandsons no grandaughters later you have given me inspiration to use the bits up as a coffee table slow stitch book . Thank you.

Thank you Sarah or explaining this. I didn't do dye in a solar jar, but wanted to do so for a long time. I mostly dye in a cooking pot or do steaming. You said it is difficult to get a green. I cooked fresh reed (only the flowers and only the ones that just started blooming and have still that purple glow). It gives a wonderful green from the cooking pot. I tried fabric and paper that I mordanted a few minutes before putting it into the half cooled down and rinsed fluid in the cooking pot. It gave a wonderful light green color.

Seriously? Sarah, you're already an art teacher, inter alia. Your drawings are lovely and just get lovelier. For a shaky beginner like me, instead of encouraging me, this video just makes me feel discouraged, and that there's no point in my even trying to start. Thanks anyway.

You are a very talented artist and I feel inspired to try drawing. I always think that artists are those people who just seem to do it naturally but I think with some practice I could draw well enough to be satisfied but lack the confidence to try. This video has inspired me. Thank you 🌷

This was so refreshing. I have tried various journals approaches and just like you been intimidated by the beautiful journal or the standard of work in others on whatever website I am following. I liked that you acknowledged it was hard to maintain to start with. Ordered a cheap 365 journal, chose the one where a reviewer complained the paper was too thin based on your observations and to help me just not care what I do. Fingers crossed

Thank you Sarah. I came across this video when I was feeling rather upset / unsettled and I found your voice and artwork really calming and inspiring. I am stitching every day and finding it really enjoyable but I know it would improve if my drawing skills were better. Maybe I will brave putting pencil/colour to paper and try not to be ashamed of my beginner attempts. Your 365 book is wonderful. And it’s always a joy to see Ginger cat. x

What a great journey. I had a similar experience to you with my first daily sketch book. I only had A3 40cm x 30cm sketch pad. I fitted 3/4 per drawings per page but the size just stressed me out so I abandon it. Recently, inspired by the needle book I made (thanks Sarah), I cut up the sketch pad pages to a size I like and made my own little book. I always paint/draw with a lot of colour but really want to improve my drawing and contrast skills. I'm now sketching using graphite pencil only, flora and fauna, one sketch per page. After watching your video, I'm fascinated to see what journey I will go on.
