Double barrel is a no brainer.Gets all that heat that's going up the chimney.
@PainterD547 ай бұрын
I found the barrels that have the removable tops (with the large compression ring that holds it on) are much thicker than those cheap oil barrels everyone uses. They last twice as long and are so much easier to clean the ashes out, just remove the entire front. And it's also easier to install a grate because you don't need to fit it thru the door!

Great tip!

I’ve been running a double barrel stove for 10 years now. They make a grill that goes inside the barrel. I filled the bottom with sand, about a half inch from the bottom of the vent and put the grill on the sand. That keeps the fire from burning through the barrel. As you know, by now, it has to be at least 2 feet away from the back wall and the same on each side. Be safe, good luck!!

You worry about the chemical inside the barrel exploding but don't worry about the water and power tool problem. ???? Use your large drain hole for your air inlet , insert a gas pipe fitting with a end cap, when you need air just remove the end cap. Nice build

I have not seen any video , where the high temp silicone sealant is used!😆 the nuts for rear legs , hardest to secure, ,
@HillTopUrbanHomestead Жыл бұрын
So I have the high temp sealant just in case but I’m waiting to see how it drafts etc. the rear bolts for the legs were accomplished once the vent hole was cut. Thanks for commenting….

I wanna make one about 24 in long instead of full length. For smaller buildings. That kit would work for that.
@HillTopUrbanHomestead Жыл бұрын
@@wesleycallison5593 Wesley that sounds great. They sell a similar kit at 2-3 different places. I look forward to seeing your final result !

use cheap oven door seal band ?
@PainterD547 ай бұрын
If you are making one with a kit, try to find one of the good barrels with the removable top that has the large seal ring to hold it on. Those barrels are thicker and last twice as long. It also a good idea to mount the door on that end so you can remove it to clean out the ashes and it's easier to put a grate inside instead of trying to get it thru the door.
