Privatization is killing traditional public schools. State testing is the tool used to close traditional public schools and turn them into charter schools when there is no evidence they out perform traditional public schools. It's poverty that needs to be addressed. Vouchers are also negatively impacting education. There's only one money pot for education. You can't improve a school building when the funds to run it where shared with charters and vouchers. Charter and vouch proponents need yo find another way to fund their privatization agenda and leave traditional public school funding alone.

Charters itself don’t improve anything for students. It’s selection bias 101. Parents with more education and money will go to charters. High income children are going to do better than low income children sadly. Charters exclude many children with learning disabilities too. They just further perpetuate racial, class, and intellectual disparities.

Take an example from Finland, American educators. If you want to use standardized testing only use them for one thing: to determine if the student is on par with their education level. Stop using them to determine if the deserve an education. That is the biggest joke of standardized tests. That they can predict a person's future. BS!

Public schools need more accountability. I don't hear in this video that charter schools don't work. I'm sure some are good and some suck. Accountability isn't necessarily bad, but I don't want that to be an excuse for the government to run them. We see how that works, now.

you know... This is, OUT OF CONTROL. You people need to wake up and see the real world. You wanna be out on the streets, living with gang members? Sure, protest. The test is preparing you for the SAT test that will get you into college so you can get a job. You don't want to be rich is what I'm hearing. Tests are helping you. If you are getting a bad grade, too bad for you. Study harder. Try harder. Have more work ethic.

So these schools are run but dumbasses that dont know how run a school. Yet they claim they are private but take state and federal funds to operate. So is it private or public? Because is like it both and from where I sit you can have both your either 1. Also if these schools are private they can close anytime they want without warning. Once closed the union cant help because is private. In public stands is the City's choice and to notify parents about schools closing. I dont trust these schools but they claim they are private but take funds for public school. I pay taxes to fund public schools not charter schools.

Charter schools exist for the sole purpose of preparing students for college. Charter schools work. The education politburo hates anything that works. America's education system is much like the Soviet Union shortly before its collapse.

@Funymoney0107 жыл бұрын
Stanley Odom yeah they can set you up for failure, that's the point. It creates a line to determine where a student should go. If they study, do well, and can be an asset to a college, they are more likely to be offered a scholarship because it benefits all of society.

Ok so then why is Finland, Number 1 in education in the world, have no standardized tests............
@alvaromuto6717 жыл бұрын
OnionWoman _ because their population doesn't exceed 6 million people, therefore they don't need standardized testing. However, in such a vast and highly populated country like the United States there has to be a way to compare students in different areas of the country.
@Funymoney0107 жыл бұрын
Finnish students go to class more, besides. America's rests are given to special ed kids. That leads to an extreme drop in the average test score while most places don't have them take it if they have any disabilities
@moosehead61478 жыл бұрын
It is a fact that public education is a failing enterprise and all these school officials do is talk talk and talk. There is no accountability there is not consequences and therefore there is not positive change. We are sick and tire of them just pacifying us by "allowing" us to vent our frustrations.
@bobthornton82828 жыл бұрын
Tests are the only god damned way to figure out who knows their shit and who doesn't! Life is a brain teaser; therefore so should be the tests! Not to mention, the brain teasers are far and few between. The vast majority of questions are usually undeniably valid ways to assess whether or not students have internalized the material. The only issue here is that the internet has given credence to the voices of masses of stupid people whose stupidity was revealed by some standardized test or another.

So what you're saying is that I'm responsible for the choices others made. My children live in a nice suburb and go to nice schools because I chose to not to become a teen parent. I'm a Hispanic male who made it out of the village through hard work, sacrifice and good choices. I shouldn't have to pay for others.

no what she is saying is that red lining and zone was factually and a well documented blatant act to under fund schools in black neighborhoods and it is negatively affecting kids and severely increasing the crime and murder rate. And she want to put an end to it. That is what she saying.
