Hmmm clan or tribe of thieves because when I think of clans in this story I think the Riko clan, the Sarojo clan, the Lyza clan, the Bondrwd clan, the Wakuna clan, and the Ozen clan make the white whistle tribe.

Just caught up with the manga after binging the anime and oh my gosh its so good! The bit with the star compass resembling the abyss makes me wonder about if there will be layers past 7, and if so maybe they mellow out? The star compass narrows after the middle so maybe the 'center' of the abyss is layer 7? The Hariyomari said something about the other side of the malestrom being as usual/ordinary but idk if that just means the entrance to 7 or the entire thing. I doubt the abyss would be kind enough to reward someone like that though lol. Can't wait for chapter 70 and Nanachi better be okay!

20:00 - I think all of irumyu's children smell like the sun, of warmth and comfort. Faputa smells like the sun because she's a daughter, Wazukan's hands specifically smell like the sun. Because of what he gets up to with the not so lucky babies. For Belaf I think he smells like irumyu because he's one of the only carrying her good memories, he also seems to be propping irumyui up somewhat. In the translation I read he was described as the bones of the village or part of the spine.

i keep thinking about how the abyss will probably have more layers, the top half of the compass being the same shape supports that theory. both compasses also go outward in the middle, and i think that may end up being layer 8 or 9, which would fit the evidence given by your own theme theory. i feel like you could also make a solid theory that the abyss relates to dante's inferno.

However, Nanachi's actions directly saved the lives of the twins, so Srajo's team seems to be doing all they can to return the favor.

I personally believe that bottom of the abyss is gonna be similar to the Eye of Iruburu the one Vecko was in. Since the abyss and the village are weirdly similar so whats ever there is t gonna be the true nature of the abyss.

I wonder if the "gazing window" might mean you can view the happenings in the abyss on a limited basis like a crystal ball. The thing that gets destroyed in the maiden's hand does look like it could be a relic similar to the star compass? There's a strong narrative on the function and meaning of wild animals in the abyss and their purpose. That was reinforced during the conversation with Srajo referencing the porcupine animal. Perhaps the abyss is an animal/being, and it just does things to survive? The 2,000 year breath just being the duration at which the being feeds. It would be a huge mindfack if the abyss was actually horrified at what was happening itself, but was itself at the mercy of its own drive to survive possessed by all living things (like a trapdoor spider) you wouldn't call such a spider evil, it's just what it does to live. The shrine maiden can talk to it; I doubt its evil per se, though admittedly that's an opinion based on subjective evidence. For all we know, the reason the breath is 2,000 years is because that's the MAX amount of time the abyss can go before needing to eat, and it's actually being sympathetic by waiting that long? We don't know. But after these new chapters, my brain is yelling at me that the whole point of this manga is about the concept of hunger. The hunger of intelligent beings to see the unknown, the hunger of an abyss that feeds every 2,000 years. I don't think it's random that MIA focuses so much on the animals in the abyss being food and the concept of cooking. It's just hunger.

There’s so much mystery going on right now it makes me excited for what’s to come. I’m also not sure exactly where this arc is taking us, what battle we will see next, but I’m looking forward to it. for 7:36 i was thinking they were referring to the souls that the abyss is trying to consume that are now reaching into the 7th layer through the birthday disease. Just a speculation ive only read it twice but since well have months until the next chapter hopefully we can catch more clues. The one thing i have been liking alot is how cravalis timeline fits into rikos timelines. Ive noticed that the chapters that relate to cravali are not numbered in the high 60s but rather relate in the 4/5/6s chapters instead.

The unknown character with the black whistle almost looks like Srajo in a flashback before she got her ww, but I could be wrong. Another thing to mention would be the eye from the extra pages, it's almost looking like a glowing circle in a dark pit, maybe that's that ring of light some delvers saw at the end of the maelstrom. I like how you point out the embodiment of Gutsu in all the Hail Hex members, I'm very curious about how the Mei part will play out with Wakuna. But we have to wait for the Miko to make her move first. She seems to want to prohibit everyone the passage further down, though I don't know why. But she clearly seems to view that whole delving thing in an entirely different way, almost as if there would be nothing to gain for mortals down in the netherworld. Would be interesting to think about how Wakuna and Lyza got past her.

As to narehate suffering from L6 curse, wouldn't the altair narehate (the one that had white whistle and allowed Ganja to travel to L6) count? They apparently died as a result of being lifted

I think the new character-delver in the extras is related to Tepaste's past; he-she seems to be holding the same Tepa's weapon that Srajo is using at the moment, also if you compare the child that appears with Tepaste you may find that the shape of the teeth match and the hair could as the character grows fit with Tepaste's current character. it's just a hunch, nothing for sure
