great haul! My first Zane Grey novel I just read was Betty Zane of his Ohio River Trilogy. Great read too. I hope to read more of his this year. Currently reading Louis L'amour The Key-Lock Man. Just finished Flint last week. I picked up the first novel of the Sacketts today. Westerns have just turned into my favorite genre of books.

Burning Hills is great. First Fast draw is definitely top tier. The character arc really pushes the story along. Classic western tale. Beautiful copy you have there. Awesome. Always happy to see you post some more. Those Black Horse books really are... foreign to us here in the states. Louis Lamour is the only authour that I read continuously, after finish 2 or 3 of his books they just started reading themselves. Till next time, Hide and Read!

Thanks for sharing the video. You can always find these books in the Linford Western Library series over in the US. Tom did say you have those over there so worth looking for and can get them pretty cheap, atleast you can in the UK. Avalon westerns are a good series to look for in the US. I currently don't have any since they're so expensive to ship across the pond.

Great books! I wish the Crowood Press hadn't caved in and canceled the brand.

Definitely a shame. Feel like the death of the Black Horse series had made a huge dent in the western genre. All we seem to have now is Wolfpack, Dusty Saddle and a handful of self published authors.

MAX BRAND! Talking about what can be done inside the Western genre, Max Brand is the guy that can stir it up. When I was a kid back in the 70s I always latched onto his books because you never knew which way he would go or what premise he would take, you just knew it was going to be a heck of a ride. I'm all for more Max Brand on BookTube!

I don't know where you live in the UK, but I would suggest getting in touch with the Cinema Bookshop in Hay-On-Wye or getting there soon. They've just bought in a big collection of 'A Format' Western paperbacks, mostly from the 1970s which are situated in their 'new acquisitions' section at the back of the first floor and they have an existing Westerns section- which includes many Hale hardcovers- at the other end of that floor.

Hey great video. It’s nice to be able to put a face to the name. The only western I have on my TBR is Lonesome Dove. Is that a good entry point or is there something else you would recommend? Maybe a video on recommendations for people new to the genre could be an idea 🤷♂️ Good luck with the channel and happy reading 👍
@Six-Shooter8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching my video, Billy. I know most do read Lonesome Dove and Blood Meridian and never read a western after that. I wouldn't start with Blood Meridian for sure but Lonesome Dove I can't comment on since I haven't read it to be honest 😅. If you are interested you can start with Shane by Jack Schaefer or True Grit by Charles Portis. Or even pick any western from either Zane Greys, Louis L'amour or Max Brand, they are basically the three Kings of the genre in my opinion. If you even go to your local library I'd just pick anything from the shelf there since you don't really have to begin anywhere. Just big up a western and start reading. Hope you find and enjoy one and maybe end up reading alot more westerns in the future 🤠

Welcome to book tube land. New here myself and finding my way around. The mysterious KZbin algorithm sent you my way probably for the following reason, I just posted about Louis L'Amour. I recently came across 17 of his books for £5 in a charity shop. I used to work on a second hand bookstall on Bury market and lots of people used to come and ask 'Do you have any good cowies?' and I would get out the box of cowboy books. A gave them a go and was really pleasantly surprised how much fun they are. So far 2 down out of the 17. Best wishes with your reading and to your channel.
