I'm curious to see if Maya runs well on Ryzen CPUs. Is the rendering speed better than Intel? I've heard a lot that Ryzen has a lot of compatibility issues.

I have a PC hardware question. I'm currently using a Threadripper 2990WX and an RTX 2080. I'm looking to upgrade and I was wondering what is more important? a CPU or GPU? I was thinking of upgrading to the Threadripper 5995WX and keeping my GPU. I've heard that Maya/Arnold rendering is much more CPU intensive, thus making me want to buy a powerful CPU. But I've also heard about Arnold GPU rendering. How does it work? should instead invest my money into, for example an RTX 4090 for my rendering

I’m sorry this is 2 weeks out. I am not great at hardware stuff. I use a 2080 currently. If you plan on doing a lot of rendering, a faster GPU is super nice for all the setup and visualization. Bonus tools isnt new, having it already included without going to the area to download it separately is. Also not having to wait a couple of months for the new version to be released for the current version of maya is nice too.

Is there some sort of trick to getting the freeze tool paint to display? I tried enabling legacy (ahem deprecated) viewport, I tried going back and forth... I managed to get the mask to display ONCE, it was in viewport 2.0, and I can't seem to get it back again.

@@JustMayaStuff Thanks for confirming it was on my side... Renaming the prefs directory and getting a fresh one fixed it. Strangely enough the painting still worked after deleting the fresh prefs and renaming my old one back to prefs so I guess Maya was caching something somewhere.

are you able to make animations using nCloth or using dynamics with maya 2025? i can't. maya only renders the first frame for the whole sequence. im using arnold. Any advice? i called autodesk and they haven't figured it out either. :( so frustrating.

You can change it back to 24 and then select everything, grab all the key frames and scale

Fun fact, this one quick trick can be used in all professions. As it turns out, the internet has a lot of useful information and search engines make finding it easy. But I think I'll stick to the tried and true method of waiting several hours, days, or even weeks to get an answer on forums or clicking back and forth between the same 3 preference settings I think have the solution because I believe in old school values.
