Depending on the presentation of the tutorial, and the viewer's ability to learn, hula can be learned from a video.

"Bounty" can be shown with both hands coming from the heart, gesture hands upward then opening to sides. Your eyes should follow your hand movements as they open upward.

Naaalala ko nung bago ko lang matutunan ang Hula, Rowena. Gustong-gusto ko rin at hindi ko tinigilan hanggang gumaling ako, kaya hanggang ngayon, masaya ako kung Hula ang sinasayaw. Mabuti sa katawan at sa "health", nawawala ang mga muscular pains. Sana magbalik ka sa channel ko at matutunan mo ang mga sayaw na tinuturo ko. Thank you din!

Hello to you too, and thank you for watching the video. Here's how to do 'SPEAK ': touch lips very gently with one or both hands, then bring your hands, palms up, to the front, like you have an audience you are speaking to. 'LISTEN ' : cup both hands behind both ears, tilt your head a little. 'SEE ': Bring both hands to your eyes and gently wave your fingertips at the side of your eyes. Easy and simple moves, but nice. Wish you all the best!

I was about 11 and 12 back in the mid-1950s when we lived on Oahu for about 2 years. My mother decided to learn to hula, and she performed this one to my brother and me. Always loved the song. By the way, my 5th or 6th grade class had to learn to hula to The Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai - even the boys (or maybe especially the boys.) It was a fun time, those two years. Lovely dancing. Thank you.

It's so good to hear about your childhood memories of the hula - your mom dancing this lovely dance, and you learning the Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai. I've taught both these dances, and Cockeyed Mayor is the next dance I am teaching my 2 teenage grandsons who are members of my hula dance group. What a fun dance it is!
