Line up the marks on the head and crank on the compression stroke. Bonus tip mark your belt with a paint marker and count the groves to ensure it correct. After installing the new belt rotate the engine over 2 full revolutions and make sure timing marks are still lined up.

Long live the TITAN! Really wasn't in the market in March '24 thinking I'd continue to make do with my 2011 Silverado w/ LS V8 due to new truck costs and most of those lacking a gas V8. Then come to find the mighty TITAN will cease production forever come summer '24. Found a '23 never-titled certifed dealer courtesy vehicle with 1K miles for nearly $15K under MSRP of new. YES! But it didn't have the integrated brake controller; the only thing lacking that I wanted. Thanks to you and a Titan forum poster who convinced me that dealers rarely have correct answers to such things, I know now I can retrofit one. Just purchased a unit and with your video and that Metra installation PDF I will be doing same as I hate the out-of-sight, knee-interfering aftermarket units. THANK YOU!!
@BRFRGF6 ай бұрын
BTW, the poster on that TITAN forum stated he was an employee at the Canton, MS factory. He said that if you have a TITAN that came with the "Accessory Utility Pkg" (Hitch with electrical connectors) then you WILL have a complete harness that includes the leads/connector for the integrated brake controller. I cannot verify but seems like a source who knows what he is talking about.

Nice work. Did you have some leaking going on. Just picked one up and that thing is caked and smoken from burning oil on the exhaust. Im thinkin valve cover and lower oilpan is smashed.
@JoshVice8 ай бұрын
Yeah when I picked this one up it had a bad crank seal both upper and lower oil pans were leaking along with the valve cover. Had oil pooled up in the spark plug tubes. The oil leak made its way to the harmonic balancer and the oil engine bay was soaked in a thin layer of oil. Good times.

@JoshVice8 ай бұрын
@jameskanipe770 couldn't say forsure probably 8-12. I removed a manual engine from a parts lancer. Not alot of room with the clutch attached to the engine. It was a struggle. I was able to separate the trans and engine and had enough room to unbolt the clutch.

In your opinion, is this something that a shade tree mechanic can handle? I usually do all of my own work, but there seem to be a lot of steps. I'm not saying that I can't, but I'm worried if I should rtv the keyway and little things like that. I've done everything else. Should I just try to do this myself? Thanks for the videos!
@JoshVice11 ай бұрын
Yeah it's not that bad. I had to rent a clutch fan removal tool from orileys and the harmonic balancer remover from them. You do rtv the keyway of the new balancer. I installed a new front main seal as well and for that I had to get a seal puller. You can do it brother. I did use a super long extension thru the new harmonic balancerto hold it in place so I could torque it to spec.
@JoshVice11 ай бұрын
Remove clutch fan and fan shroud get your impact take out the bolt to the balancer. Install the balancer remover and crank that until it comes free. Install a new seal because your there. Rtv the new balancer keyway and install it. I did run into one thing and that was I couldn't get the bolt started because the thick washer wouldn't let me grab any threads to install. Get a thin washer the same size to get the balancer started then swap to the original washer.

Hey mate I’m from Australia and my engine out of my 2002 Mitsubishi lancer has just let go and I’m needed to grab a new engine for her when replacing your engine did you have to replace anything like the BCM or anything or was it just as simple as old engine out new one in and good to go
@JoshVice Жыл бұрын
The lancer I pulled the engine from was a stick car so I had to swap flex plate and flywheel around. The engine I pulled was from an 2005 lancer so I had to use 2002 intake. Everything else was good. My research told me any lancer with the 8th digit being E in the vin will work. Ecu and bcm no issues.

@ianbarlow4026 Жыл бұрын
Gonna be doing this on mine within the next week or 2. Mines a manual though. Did you have to take anything additional off that isn't shown?
@JoshVice Жыл бұрын
Yeah the engine I swapped into the lancer was from a manual. It's more difficult to remove with the clutch. If I had to do that again I'd remove the engine and transmission together I've got a video of that just haven't had time to edit and post. But yeah everything is the same. There isn't enough room to separate the trans and engine while in the engine bay. Even with harmonic balancer off.
@ianbarlow4026 Жыл бұрын
@@JoshVice so i pulled mine yesterday. Pull each of the brackets off at the bottom near timing side and separate it and rotate it 180° intake facing driver side, remove the fan and radiator, and it'll come right out as long as everything is disconnected properly. If you ever have to do it again just a easier way to do it that I found man. However I do think you did good because ya still got it out with no real issues

It's great you did this I got an 03 rally racing edition and I'm having issues trying to find parts for it they don't make them anymore sadly but right under the power steering pulley it's missing the whole tensioner and bolt so one of the belts is off until I find piece that isn't outrageous but now when I tried to accelerate it to pick up speed getting to 40 it sometimes lags to gain speed I'm possibly hoping that it's my throttle position sensor but lmk your thoughts I'm open minded it's my first import.
@JoshVice Жыл бұрын
Hey Ricky I happen to have an extra power steering pump and bracket with the tensioner/pulley if you need one. My thoughts on your power loss I would clean the mass air flow sensor. Check for a vacuum leaks after the MAF sensor. Has the lancer throw any engine codes? Is your 03 lancer a automatic or manual transmission?
