Where can I find out about a German helmet my dad brought back from Europe. I believe it’s Naval from the French coast.

So with the helmet shell, the swivel bale conversion would’ve been postwar. When they converted to swivel bale during the war, the swivel bales were placed right at the rim. For some reason, after the war, the bale placement was lower.

Fascinating items, parenthetically the British and Indian Army's where still useing mules in the Second World War in the Southeast Asian theatre and Mediterranean. Also, most of the German Army's logistics were carried by horse and cart during the war.

Very nice new items! I remember the "amassing items for the mannequin" stage quite well. The horse feed bag is very cool. I have a different version of the horse feed bag that eventually ended up as field showers in later periods. Horses were essential for the AEF including being used in supply trains, to pull artillery pieces, and much more. I am also surprised it doesn't come up more often

Great helmet, been thinking about getting one myself. However, I would suggest looking at some ways to protect some of the items displayed on the foam heads. As the stryofoam degrades it releases various gases that can damage old pieces, especially organic material like leather. If left on long enough, the leather and foam can be fused together and damage/ruin a piece. Glass and acrylic heads are the safest (but obviously more expensive), but even just wrapping the styrofoam heads in something like cloth or a acid free paper can save a lot of damage to these amazing pieces.
