Hi, rockets? First weekend of July id the typical period of rocket festival, welcoming the rains. Lantern festival is Yii Peng, Loy Krathong & Phang Pratheep, which is this year on 14 -16 November.

Glorious weather this week Paul. A lull in the monsoon deluge. More rain predicted this next week but hopefully bot as severe as the last period 🙏

Thanks Paul, lots of local flooding, as in low lying areas that easily flood after heavy downpours but the Ping is flowing well and not bursting it’s banks just yet. However, I think it could start tomorrow 🤦‍♂️

Storms come from the south china sea & vietnam and laos get them first. The areas in the north of Thailand are the border districts and uncannily, the amount of deforestation is notable, giving rise to even more issues with mud slides. The water from those areas will flow south but not via Chiang Mai city / the ping river, and those areas of Nan & Phrae had it bad already.

The peak seems to have been yesterday, 12th but I am sure there is more rain coming soon 🤦‍♂️ The city escaped but the border of Chiang Mai with Chiang Rai around Fang & Mae Ai were badly affected 🥲

Rain typically happens overnight and days are warm & dry. Its a wonderful time of year. The threatened storm due this weekend may just affect the very north of Chiang Rai and likely not touch Chiang Mai. I do hope you have a wonderful experience during your stay here 🥳❤️🇹🇭

Well this is purely my opinion and hardly scientific but I believe only the immediate parents feed their offspring and that causes chaos when a family of 5-6 turn up when other families are already there. Off camera this is further supported by the family gatherings that huddle together along the wall or in nearby branches.

Indeed Paul, the dragon fruit scared the birds I think 🤦‍♂️. Storm still making its way across land from south China sea, should arrive tonight ! But bearing in mind the met office have been wrong before, we will only definitely know, after it arrives 🥳
