The fact that is was flickering at times and then would not give any video it is more than likely ripped pads under one of the memory chips, since this is a heavier card and assuming it was not mounted vertically it more than likely had bad sag and caused a ripped pad under the memory chip closest to where the card mounts to the Mobo. That is my guess.

Likely a memory issue. Run MATS on it. Almost guaranteed bank A1 will show a fault.

Use a multimeter to check the power rails for a short before you plug it in.. even a cheap one is good enough for that, you can also check pex, clock, reset and data lines too which will greatly help isolate the problem, again it can be done wiht cheap equipment.

Put heat to the GPU board with a heat gun. Sometimes that does the trick too.

It wasn't really a scam, false advertising yes as it ain't the modern term of a gaming PC, I had worse specs, a phenom X4 CPU back in 2022, I actually got scammed as it was advertised as modern gaming hardware and I was younger and new to the PC scene and falled for it. Barely could play GTA IV, let alone GTA V as V would just crash. I paid 45$ for just the motherboard with nothing but the CPU and CPU cooler. It was a waste of money and later that year I bought a I7-3770 Lenovo PC that I'm still rocking to this day, with a SFF RTX3050 that now I got a ITX motherboard for to transplant into a Xbox One S shell. I love that you still recommend the 3rd and 4th gen CPUs as they are really quite capable same with the RX580, my 3050 is technically more powerful but I had a friend with a 4th gen I7 with a RX580 and it was quite good. I don't think I'll ever need to upgrade until I get Interested in new titles as most games I play are older then 2016 other then fortnite

I had the same PCIe slot placement problem with an HP Prodesk (600 G3) SFF. Even after finding a Low-Profile, Single-Width card of my choosing; The GPU fans couldn't breathe sufficiently because the PSU housing was so close. A pity Ended up going HP Elitedesk (800 G3) SFF for the project, as its PCIe slot was properly placed toward the CPU. Also, it turns out they both share the same chipsets between them

I bought a RX 5700 XT recently to replace my recently dead RX Vega 56, first couple of times I tried it, didn't work on my main system, rgb and fans worked. I tested it on my old 4th gen system which haven't been used for a long time and it worked first try, tried it again on my main rig, did not work. After looking at it for a few minutes thinking, this was a Sapphire nitro+ card, it was big and heavy. The way I tested it, my main rig was positioned horizontally. With it's weight in mind and have been used for a few years now, maybe the pcb was very slightly bent due to it sagging in the past system this was in. I positioned my main rig upright and voila! It worked. My thinking was that maybe the pins no longer properly contacted inside the slot having its pcb slightly bent. Just wanted to share my experience with GPU's with no display signal but still is turning on.

I have a question about attaching cables when the monitor is mounted flush up against the wall. I want (as you have here) for my cables to plug in from the bottom of the monitor. How can I specify (when looking over monitors online) that the cables plug into sockets on the bottom of the monitor rather from the back? Of course if I went into a physical store (like COSTCO) I could inspect the socket orientation of the monitor. This is something that seems to be difficult to specify when looking online. Thanks.

hi your card have a bad contats on menory you can try reflow it not to long and see if it works then if not yeah then you can try download some gpu server tools then you can see which memory is broken

sorry not a graphics card person. couple of things could stop display. like, card outputing 1440 monitor only suporting 1080. hdmi / display port cable wrong version. hdmi v 1.0 1.2 1.3/1.4 , 2.0 2.1. or hdmi / dp to vga adapters. displayport come in different versions to.
