I enjoyed your video, just a word of caution for you, that tank on that table is going to end badly.

I've been adding them to big pots I have outside whenever I would find them (we have a wet climate so no risk of drying out). Glad to hear it was a good idea, I will consider adding them inside too.

Earth worms are invasive and terrible for forests tho. You should put a disclaimer about that.
@ComommonlyCensoredКүн бұрын
Agreed, they are destroying the boreal forests and the prairies.
@GardinteamКүн бұрын
Yes! It’s interesting from what I’ve read that the less disturbed an environment, the less prevalence of earthworms. If you have any good links for people please add them! We did a short on this - There Were NO Earthworms Here! #gardening #science kzbin.info17MbZoRprbE?feature=share

It’s interesting to read about how one of the new earthworms to be introduced, the jumping or snake worm, is particularly problematic because of the rate at which it decomposes. My chickens eradicated them from our yard but they were everywhere before that, particularly under our larger older growth deciduous trees like oaks.

He just lets the plants sit in soil in the pots? Doesn't that leach a bunch of stuff in the water? I've been using slow dripping hang on back refugiums, with 1 inch aquasoil +3 inches clay balls, with airstone spray bar buried in the clay balls. So far so good. His way of letting it wick up and using a flood/drain system is pretty ingenious. Inspiring!! Thanks for sharing!

How do you catch them all again to bring them back inside?
@GardinteamАй бұрын
With lots of patience 😂. You can wrangle chickens up by steering them from their flight zone. Having a second person helps a lot. In general they’ll want to stick together so if there’s a straggler it’ll be eager to get back to its flock.

I am interested if you guys still using this method? i have a free access on husk/hull and coco coir. any pros and cons you've encountered so far?
@Gardinteam11 күн бұрын
Hey there! I am so sorry for the slow reply, I thought I had responded to this, my apologies! We absolutely still use this method and I find myself loving it more with time. I would say the only draw back is that when you first dump a large bag of rice hulls, it can be dusty, so it's not a bad idea to move the guinea pigs to another room and where a mask when you are changing the bedding in their house. Other than that, no complaints. And don't forget that you can use the old bedding in your garden or compost pile, free fertilizer :)

Moss is better than grass.
@Gardinteam6 ай бұрын
Both are awesome! We love to have as much biodiversity as possible. Some areas we love beautiful mossy cover but others we love lawns rich in grasses and wildflowers to feed herbivorous wildlife and pollinators.
