Yes, it's still the exact settings I use on every beat make. 👍 By the way, if you want to have it a bit more crisp in the highs, put Abletons "Channel EQ" plugin before Saturator with 2-3 dB of gain on the "high" band. This brings out the highs of hihats and snare some more, but I personally don't do that, just tried to experiment a bit and found that to be nice as well.

Always wondered how to create those chopped melodies. FL has FL Slicer which many producers use for exactly that. Glad Ableton can do the same! 💪 Also Erosion on 808 is sounding🔥🔥🔥!!!

Cool video. I pitch hats in drum rack by adding multiple instances of the same hat on different pads and pitching them differently. You can also add different effects and panning to each instance

It's from Cxdy's Metal SlugX kit (free version). You can find that pack on his discord server and I've been using it for some time now and it's absolut 🔥. There's also a paid version (with more sounds of course) but the free one has already amazing sounds in it (like that 808 from this video).

Which saturator setting do you think is better on the Master for that fruity soft clipper sound, digital clip or the new bass shaper mode? Fire presets btw #abletongang :D

I got a new short on my channel with even better settings with the new Saturator in Live 12.1. It's the "Get FL Soft Clipper sound in Ableton 12.1" short.

@antwerpsunset It's nice that Saturator finally has the option to adjust the clipping curve (from hard to soft) using the new threshold parameter. I really prefer the new settings (shown in the mentioned short) over the settings from this video. Oh, also I redid this video, cause there was a bug in Orange Clip. After the bug was fixed I made another comparison, it's the "Revised" video. But nevertheless I prefer the settings from my short you already found.

I usually duplicate the track I want to freeze and flatten so that I can keep my original track. It’s like resample but a faster way. It would be better if they add a shortcut to “freeze and flatten” and add an option that you can choose your flattened track as .wav file not only .aif file

You can also freeze a track and drag that frozen track onto a audio track while holding shift or ctrl oder something and it'll appear there as audio file. And yeah, a shortcut would be awesome, not sure why they didn't have that implemented yet. But what's new is that you can now have different tracks combined into a single audio file (like shown in the video). This can't be done the way you describe.

Was so stocked about discovering it, that i actually didn´t try the "Freeze Track" option, only "Freeze and Flatten Track". Turns out the "Freeze Track" option is still buggy, so frozen tracks are unfrozen after reopening a project. 🫤 Maybe that´s why it´s still not on by default.

Have you compared it to orange clip?I also noticed that the bass shaper can adjust the curve, so I was looking for a sweet spot

Yeah, that's exactly what I did and using these settings it's super close to what Orange Clip sounds like (got other videos on my channel where I compare Saturator and Orange Clip side by side, watch the "Revised" video for best comparison). That was before 12.1 with the upgraded Saturator and the Bass Shaper option with the adjustable soft clipping curve (=threshold). Having this option now really made a difference, cause FL Soft Clipper is using nearly hard clipping (threshold of -2.1) that's why I recommend this setting in my video. Orange Clip uses a threshold of -4,4 if I remember correctly, but with Ableton Saturator you have to use the -2.1 to get a similar sound.

Thanks for your comment! ❤️ Regarding your question: right click the on/off button of one of the plugin and click "map key". Hit the key on your keyboard you want to use for turning it on/off. Repeat with the on/off button for the other plugin and make sure to use the same keyboard key you used for the first plugin. Now activate only one of the two plugin by clicking the on/off button with the mouse. If you now hit the previous assigned keyboard key you'll toggle on/off on both of them simultaneously, so one is on while the other is off. It sounds more complicated than it is. I can make a video about it, it's actually a good idea for my next short haha. 😂👍
