That's very harsh. It is difficult to tell from that camera angle if they even crossed the solid line at all. They were clearly waiting until the end of it, so they knew what they were supposed to do. I can't understand how that's a serious fault...

Isn’t this undue hesitation, just a driver fault? Seems extreme to fail this. Thanks,

I'm surprised it's a fail when one is only legally obliged to stop once a pedestrian enters the crossing.

Interesting that failing to yield on a zebra crossing to a non-pedestrian is considered an instant fail in the UK. Across the channel in the Netherlands, pedestrians are only treated as such when they've fully dismounted from any vehicle. Maybe because there are so many cyclists here but if somebody is standing like that with a bicycle or electric scooter they are counted as such and get no right of way on zebra crossings. The only exception to that are mobility aids but in that case the pedestrian gets right of way anywhere, not just zebra crossings and failing to yield to a crossing mobility impaired pedestrian anywhere is an instant fail in our licence test. Doesn't mean that you shouldn't slow down and approach these crossings with care though, especially in wet conditions where vision is limited by reflections, but it makes two road users to make a safe environment. Especially in this case when the other side of the crossing is obscured by the standing traffic and a pedestrian could pop out from between these cars at any moment.

Do you mean they are not considered pedestrians if they are on the bicycle? That’s so weird

i don't think there's any misunderstanding. the driver was probably feeling the pressure of an exam and thought they'd have enough time to get past the comically large yellow box junction :D seems like a good area to take new drivers if you wanna fail them.

As soon u join the roundabout the middle lane becomes the left so u need to stay on the left side and if u see the video the learner was slightly in the right lane which is dangerous for drivers on ur right side

Go left at the roundabout at 8:05 would generally only be understood by looking at the map on the Sat Nav.

What if the pedestrian had jumped on to the road and you stopped immediately to let them go, would that be a fail point?
@keith64003 ай бұрын
Obviously, if the pedestrian had suddenly crossed the road forcing you to stop by being an obstruction it would not be a fail.

This is not a question of luck it is a common problem with zebra crossings. On approach at 5:59 can you see the group of pedestrians trying to cross the road from behind the big blue van? No you cannot because there is a queue of stationary traffic hiding that end of the crossing and the pavement at that end. Why are they stationary? Consequently you must gradually slow to a snail's pace on approach whilst scanning the whole crossing. You can then stop your vehicle well within the distance you can see to be clear. At this speed you will see the guy to the left showing intent to cross and you can gently stop.

If you are taking the third exit for the A34 and you sit in the middle lane am I right in saying you don’t need a right indicator because you are following the straight over arrow. Then before you turn onto the A34 you would indicate left?
