I find the trick with the 360 to roll without touching the tire is to slightly overspin the 360 and throw your dangling leg behind you more to the opposite side. I disagree with Eli, I think it's slightly harder, but it looks waaayyy nicer and a lot smoother.

Just more awesome content dude. Your stamina on some of these longer combos, In particular that 'sketchy' double backroll flip combo is just wicked. The fact that you went after that 2-3 more times without impairing your execution is seriously impressive. And got it cleaner no less. There's a weird element to 'sketchiness' for me. Sometimes the easier a combo 'looks', the harder it is to appreciate. Your 'sketchy' one painted the picture of how many hundreds of hours of dedicated practice it takes to get to that point. You make everything look so effortless 99% of the time, so seeing you hit a 'sketchy' sequence creates a contrast which makes the combo look badass, difficult, and earned. Side note, starting at 6:47 I could not tell if the fisheye was playing tricks, but your wheel looked slightly out of true during this whole shot. When you spun the uni 180 while talking, it looked out of true the other way. As you know you probably wouldn't notice it much while riding if it's slight, but you're doing some heavy and intense stuff, so it's worth the mention in the 1% chance that I'm onto something 🤷 It's gotta be the lens though right 😂?

Thanks so much for this comment man! I feel like you're spot on with the idea that the smoother it looks, the harder it is to actually execute and be consistent with. That being said I've also noticed that the more practiced with rolls you are, the more you are able to save even if you're not in an ideal position. As for the wheel looking out of true, I'm fairly certain that its just the distortion of the fisheye haha. But good looking out. I do have a backup wheelset that I'll bring to Unicon just in case things go sideways.

Another great session Scott! Your rolls are so good! My favourite things in this video were the full varial flip, the rocket launch and the RW-540. Loved all the gongs when touching the tyre with the back foot and the bowline? tutorial 😅

Dude that was awesome. Props on figuring out the 3spin-rollingwrap, it really does look so much cooler completely one footed like that. The combo with the two backroll doubleflips was my favorite. Have you done any blind spinning at all? Rollingwrap-5 is super easy if you do the spin blind, because you don't have to reset your hands lol
@scottjulian6517
@scottjulian6517 Ай бұрын
Thanks for the push to relearn those! That’s a really interesting idea for the 540s. I’m not great with my blind direction. I can 360 fine but would have to learn blind 540s before I send that. Seems like it would work really smooth coming out of a roll though.

Dude, this was pretty well the perfect tricks on flat vlog... Had it all, grunt noises, every under and over flip i can dream of, jibes at yourself for being too scared about talking in front of the camera with people around, wild tricks like the trey under doubles, 540 super side and trey side under. Then just casually being raptured to heaven... Seriously though, love the session, love the edit, love your mannerisms in front of the camera, love your training tips. Brilliant all around! Can't wait for the next one!! ❤❤

Man thank you so much! Sometimes I'm a little self conscious of whether or not I'm being entertaining/coherent while talking to a camera haha. It definitely doesn't help to have people nearby but I'm glad you like all the raw "scotty" mannerisms that I just decided to keep in.

Having bad sessions can be real and demotivating, especially coming off of a lot of good ones. I still beat myself up a lot, but I’m getting better at taking the positives from them. I’m loving the bigger tricks you’re chasing right now though, give it a few sessions and they will start dropping like flies. I especially like the 540 over? such a sick trick to even attempt, i don’t think anyone’s done it like that either so… I’m also a sucker for big flips so i can’t wait to see that trey side quad go down. good sesh regardless man
@scottjulian6517
@scottjulian6517 Ай бұрын
Yeah these two sessions were particularly challenging for me to move on from. It’s easy to get in your own head with what you think you can do too. Something I’ve heard before that explains it pretty well: You have a wave of good sessions that exceed your expectations, which causes your expectations to increase, causing your riding to seem worse, which lowers your expectations and resets the cycle. It’s all just part of the process.

I love your riding and i can’t wait to see more about that series! Also thinking about your secretside handpass, did you you do the same handpass for 540secretside and fifthsecretside? Because i’ve learned both but i take that your actual handpass for 5secret is more random/les controllable
@scottjulian6517
@scottjulian6517 2 ай бұрын
Yeah my handpass for the 540 secretside and fifth secretside is the same. doing the 720/630 secretside handpass is a little less controlled for some reason.

One question rated to ypur practice space: Did you find it harder to train at TCUC practices? I think I'm discovering that I cant focus as much on my own skills as much when im helping other people all the time.

I love this series. I might do my own video following this. The funny thing is that my strategy for getting ready for comps is a bit different: - I generally do a calorie deficit - I use an anti-strategy for riding. Don't focus on strategy and pretend I'm training for nothing. I'll elaborate on this more maybe...

Yeah Scott! Another killer session 👌 Favourites for me were the 540 and 360 secret sides and that fifth triple. Man. So. Clean. Doesn't even make sense haha. Thanks for answering the questions and for the kind words ❤️ I find myself with less and less time to ride and film myself with work, kids, house work etc.. so i love engaging on unicycle content where people are doing something a bit different or putting effort in to keep the scene alive! Glad its having a positive effect on someone 😊 Those street clips are great man! The 180 late back gap is sick! Also the full varial flip was clean! Shame your motivation for street didn't hang around.. All 3 of the 3 "active" Melbourne street riders are working on solo street edits, so hopefully we will have some motivation for you before the end of the year! P.S. loved the nutrition talk, this is ticking that little something extra box for me for sure, keep it up man!
