FACTS: (because I’m a hornby Thomas nerd) Hornby wanted their models to be closer to the real engines, hence the innaccurate designs Splatter and dodge were planned for the range, but were likely canned due to the magic railroads failure, whilst arry and Bert’s prototypes have the right faces, we can only assume face production had already started, hence why they kept it Dart is WAY too big, the take n play model is more accurate in scale, the hornby model also has side rods, something dart never had. Den was planned for the range, but cancelled as the license was dropped, his model was used recently to make a new set of sentinels. Bill and Ben, along with Toby are also oversized, this is due to being released in the clockwork range first, which was more targeted towards kids. I own the railway series version of Thomas. (And might get dart for Christmas) The reason why Emily and Edward look they way they do is due to fact hornby hadn’t made their classes in 00 scale at the time, having to alternate to anything close. Oliver’s handrail is going into his head Hornby did very much make Stepney, they were released for a short time in 2004 and were re-released in 2017 in a limited quantity of 1000, like Spencer, the flying Scotsman, and Murdoch. Yes duck is real, the older models had darker faces, and whiskey they were updated, diesel and duck never received it. I do actually own the great Waterton building! I collect hornby, and at the time of writing currently have: Thomas (newer) Edward Henry Gordon James (newer) Percy (newer) Toby Duck Diesel Bill Ben Stepney Annie and clarabel Three milk tankers Two fuel tankers One cattle van 1984 Thomas with Annie and Clarabel And a few others bits I probably forgot.
