Great video. I really like the show, however I still not watched all of the episodes, especially the ones after ww1. Sometimes I just find it boring, but there are some really great moments which made me appreciate the series. Fun fact, after this video I just found out that the new Indy game, The Great Circle also referenced the show. There is a priest in the Vatican, called Antonio who met Indy during the great war and sometimes he refers to the him as Henri, what was his aliase that time.

This was a great video. Genuinely didn't know that much about this series and it had a lot more connective tissue with the overall history of filmmaking by Lucas than I thought it would. That was an interesting interpretation of Dial of Destiny calling back to the series. Hope you get to cover more of the obscure or lesser known history of Lucas's filmmaking. Also would love to see updates to the star wars changes since your videos were the most in-depth comparisons I've ever seen. Even then there's still a ton of stuff to cover like some AOTC changes from the theatrical version that had been forgotten.

I saw the original in sheffield uk 23 times. there's bits I saw I never saw again, the vhs releases and tv showings had quite a few bits cut for run time, and they have neve come back on later releases. most important 2 to the plot i've not seen on vhs/dvd, leia recording the message for r2, you see her making the recording and she speaks the first 2 sentences in full before it cuts away, no biggy but i think it should have stayed for backstory of /why/ they are on a mission, and when r2 and c3 are put up for sale, r2 sabotages the red one, he puts his little stick into him for a few seconds, which is why he blows his stack, showing he was in full mission mode and had to gtee his sale. ever wonder how c3po gets inside the crawler, he's lost in the dessertt etc, he see's it and shouts for help, at that first distance no way can they hear him but i guess they have scanners to find items of value like runaway droids, they come to him, almost running him down which was funny, and they they talk to him and take him in by the side door and ramp.

31:55 Lack of Overt stakes in a vacuum maybe but it was made pretty damn clear what the Death Star would be doing the Rebel's base. The countdown, and time dilation make it a make it a much more tense and thrilling sequence but let's be real, the stakes were there regardless.

Theatrical release looks way better. DVD has too red hue and bright highlights are pulled down to into grey area. The Disney version often has the blacks raised too much so it looses some of the grungy details. The CGI blends better on the theatrical as well.

All of the deleted scenes I've seen have been awful, the dialogue being absolutely dire. The editors did a fantastic job in rescuing what would have likely been an immediately forgotten flop.

Seeing the final battle scene as a kid in 1977, it was never too long. There were nuggets in every frame and we flocked back to the theater to watch it again and again.

Warick Davis has become like The where's Waldo since he makes so many cameos in Star wars. Some without the make up as seen when he next to Watto or in costume outside of his Ewok costume to which he and real life son did a cameo as Wicket and his son. He is also the Beebo child at 6:01. which you can tell just by the way he moves. And that always is a tell on Warick as he has this type of body movement that only he can dl.

I would love to see disenchantment returning one day as a tv special or crossover with futurama/the simpsons. The problem is Netflix and Disney. To be honest i like disenchantment much more than the hulu revival of futurama and modern apu-less simpsons.

Great vid, needs more views. Even though I liked Disenchantment, I can't help but feel like the show was harmed overall by being on Netflix instead of an over-the-air network like Fox. Futurama and the Simpsons both benefitted hugely by just being on all the time, everywhere. You grow an attachment to Fry, Homer, Bart and Bender just through cultural osmosis, memes etc. Disenchantment just never got that chance.

For all the ten-year-olds like me watching Star Wars for the first time in a crowded movie house in 1977, who grew up with very few quality sci-fi movies and shows--believe me--the Battle of Yavin with all those fighters attacking the Death Star was not "too long" a sequence. It was the exciting end to a well-invested conflict from the audience's perspective. And the award ceremony was a joyous payoff for the two-hour ride the audience had experienced. At the time, the theatrical release was the best! As a child, I didn't care what the film critics said. For a whole generation of kids, Star Wars was our movie.

You assume an awful lot...and Rogue One and all things SW past the original are subpar, including Empire and Jedi, which are really just one movie cut in half, something I booed in the theater (and I was there for the original's debut, I still have a lot of lobby cards and huge posters. Plus, later I had a Revenge of the Jedi poster sent to me by the studio, but I sold that. STILL have my original Force Be With You button!!)

The original Alan Dean Foster novelization that was released in November of 1976, is mostly based on this cut, as was the Brian Daley radio drama (with some minor changes, such as switching out Jabba with another one of his more competent henchman, a character named “Geeter?” in the confrontation at Mos Eisley). The first comic adaptation is also closer to the novelization somewhat than the movie.

instantly loved your channel, started with the Tracey Ullman show breakdown and just got hooked after this one with your narration style and the amount of research and relevant information you give. One of my favorite lines you used on this video that I can best help to describe the tone and timing of your work was "...at least that's the way I interpreted it." Instant Fan, much respect and best wishes from Deep in the Heart of Texas! Cheers! I think I'd love to watch the Lost Cut for the Obi-Wan/Luke intro as well as the original voices for Vader and Chewie, Priceless.
