The Harbeth M30 are the best speakers I have ever heard. And I think I have heard all the best brands. However, you have to be careful when installing them in a room, for this reason it is recommended to use an amplifier with good tone controls such as the Accuphase. This helps you to get the fundamental characteristic of the Harbeth: dynamic balance, that is, perfect linearity. (If the room reflects high-pitched sounds a lot because it has a lot of glass or resonant walls, attenuating the high-pitched tones a little, for example, will help you hear the perfect sound.)
@reviewchannel98716 ай бұрын
I usually spend hours (or days) for speaker positioning to make sure for the best possible sound for my ears. I believe Accuphase makes great amps while my set of electronics serves me well enough (for now). I would like to use EQ with microphone (like GLM of Genelec) one day.

I would run those with a Peachtree Nova 150 and wonder if it's enough as I saw they don't seem to be very sensitive speakers. That why I was surprised to hear/read that they are very good at low volume, but maybe the Peachtree wouldn't be enough for this result. Would you know, and if the LS50 would be better at low volume ? I have an opportunity the get the Haydn at 400, so maybe it's a good deal over LS50's that would be more, even used ?..

You want a noisy DAC in equipment or streaming. All add noise, and that is not the best way to go for a preamp. So if you complain about not having a DAC well that is a good thing, means Marantz did it right and did not try to make it a jack of all trades and a master of none. If you care about a lot of features then buy an HT receiver.

This is a pretty competitive price-range. I would chose Luxman, Accuphase or Passlabs integrated amplifiers over this any day of the week. The placement of the headphone input is a joke and makes it look like some kind of Child's toy from the 1980's. My guess is that in the US dealers are offering massive discounts for this amp as I can't imagine many folks paying full price for this. Mark L needs to take a page out of Luxmans book in terms of remote control design and button placement too.

I have the p3esr and the denton 85's. The reason why I purchased the 85's after the harbeths was because I have recently purchased a fairly pricey 25 watt amplifier and it didn't have enough juice to push the harbeth's 83.5db sensitivity. The denton's have 88 db sensitivity. The system sounds better with the Denton's, but I can tell the Harbeth's are better speakers by the amount of detail retrieval and it's precise imaging it has over the Denton's. The p3esr's just sound a little lackluster with my 25watt amp while it drives the denton's better. The Denton's while not having the precise imaging of the Harbeth's, has a bigger and grander center image. Probably from the higher sensitivity.

The 5805 is an awesome sounding amp and you complain (too much) about how it looks. Ripping the remote, really? This is an entry level Levinson piece of equipment. Why do you care so much about what is weighs. It is built like a tank with a huge power supply. Many inputs and outputs, high quality DAC, with an excellent phono stage. It has a juicy 125 watt/channel 8 ohm output and it is an A/B architecture, not a sterile Class D. Pairs well with high quality speakers and will drive just about anything down to 2 ohms. And yet, you complain about the looks. boo.
@reviewchannel98713 жыл бұрын
Perhaps my expectation was little high. You've mentioned how 5805 offers this and that and that is great which I also have no other opinion. However, these are not surprising for an amp of such class. I have to say 5805 was a disappoinment, In terms of build quality. I still think 5805's build quality is way worse than Mark Levinson's old 383 integrated amp and even worse than premium, yet still cheaper Japanese int amps. Mark Levinson I knew, did not make amps like 5805 then. I presume most people purchase high end products for functon, great performance and impeccable build quality at the same time. I may be wrong If, Mark Levinson no longer remains in the High End domain or the definition of High End has changed. I do care about the physical mass too since I've seen many light, yet great components. Further, I think integrated amp itself is a compromise (as appose to separates)and should include user friendliness. I would reseve my opinion on Class D. I get along with Class A worshipeers too. Do you really think fingerprint attracting and slippery (and accident seekingly heavy at the same time) finishing 5805's remote is a well made?
@robertyoung1777 Жыл бұрын
I think we are getting an honest impression from this viewer and I appreciate that sincerity. All probably true with respect to the engineering of this integrated amplifier - but - as a center piece of a system it’s sure not a looker. As the premium Harmon brand, I expect better from Mark Levenson.
