Chen, Yamaguchi, Kwan, Cohen had some of the best choreographed performances! They understood the importance of feeling & interpretating the music throughout the entire program. That's what made their performances so much more enjoyable, long lasting & difficult.
5.7/5.6 are my scores for her. Those jumps are worth 5.7.

After 30 years of following skating this remains one of the most unique and memorable programs ever. From the Late Toller Cranston and unlike any of Lu Chen's other programs

Judges were harsh, in particular on the first mark.
Miss the Campbell's International Figure Skating Classic. hahaha

Shouldn't she get a deduction of 1 point finishing after the music?

I don't think so. The blades started and stopped moving within the 2:40 window.

Wow! She really gets up in the air and then does her rotations. This program was skated better than in the 1995 Worlds IMHO.

I feel this was overscored on the technical. Shallow patterns, flutz and tight combo, literally no connecting footwork into the flip

This program had so much potential! Kwan/Cohen/Arakawa-era really elevated the sport to new artistic heights.

I would place this ahead of Butyrskaya for 5th. Much higher and smoother jumps, and better flow throughout the performance. Better spiral sequence, greater flexibility in the combination spin.

It's interesting because I do not believe NBC broadcasted this performance and thus I had never seen it until I watched it just now. Her jumps are huge! I agree I think she should have been 5th after the short. It's too bad she didn't have a free skate quite as good.

That's exactly right. The COP isn't perfect, but reputation won't hold you up as much. Some of the other elements of Sebestyen's were weaker, so that's why she was held back. Under the COP, you hear of unknown skaters defeating the big names much more often, like when Takahiko Tozuka had beat out Evan Lysacek and Johnny Wier. It's a more even playing ground for the skaters.

At 3:13 Now, that's a BEAUTIFUL layback spin. Go and learn and try to do it, Michelle, even if ur thirty-something is not that late. All these commentators sayin' that Michelle was far superior in the 'artistic' department is a complete joke with those ugly, limited and unfinished positions of hers, especially while "spinning".
