Really interesting video, thanks. May I ask.... Was there a musty smell in the room? You don't mention it. If there had been a musty smell, would that suggest dry rot or could it suggest wet rot - or both? Does a musty smell suggest that the rot is 'active'? Many thanks!

Can damp run down the wall like a leak from above ? I have a corner upstairs bed room where its running dowm the wall in the corner and around the edges of the windows ...the walls have no cavities old house ...double brick ,the walls internal in this particular room are plastered with no plaster board ..so the walls are cold to touch ...ive took the tiles off the roof ,i see no leak ,had the gutters cleaned and taken off ,eve trays put in ,valleys cleaned and ridges dry sytem replaced ...and i still have this which looks like a leak from above ...ive been in the loft and no sign of water leak ...

If water is running down the walls then it’s usually condensation. Damp due to structural problem tends to make damp patches rather than visible water. Old solid walled houses are prone to condensation. Check your extract fans and insulation levels.

@ministryofmould last night it rained heavy ..I kept the windows open in that room and the water running down the wall stopped ..so yes you're correct its condensation ...I'd say its from our shower which has no extractor fan ...and house of 5 ..all take the piss with how long they shower ,making the bathroom literally dripping ,then that must be making its way across the hall to the front room and the corner
