Carlin's "comedy" was based around pedestrian observations about society, government, etc. He coasted his entire career on the back of that one time he said seven edgy words for a 1970s Conservative America and rode it all the way til the end. From the 80s right through to the 2000s he would produce nothing noteworthy and his career nosedived. It wasn't until KZbin that his clips were shared that he began to gain popularity again. In my honest opinion, it was his books that were better then his standup.
