Worst time to have a brain fart. Or maybe powder on the goggles? Something had to happen, no one’s instincts tells them, “that looks like sure ground!” Maybe he just got greedy for the summit and wrote a check his tush couldn’t cash. Has he debriefed or been interviewed about this stroke of foolishness?

Boulder feilds and preseason snow are a bad combo. Boulder feilds can get pretty gnarly in the best conditions. Easy way to commit to digging and sweating all day.
