I love this piece! We are singing it as an introit to our Advent Lessons and Carols service tomorrow night. No conga drums, unfortunately--just a capella. (I sing with the Canterbury Choir at the Chapel of St. John the Divine (Episcopal) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.)

Ini lagu tidak menggunakan melodi asli ataupun aksen lagu yamko rambe yamko sebenrnya. Karna lagu aslinya dari lembah grime nawa, melodi sedih dan mistis. Ini lagu buat manggil leluhur (permainan kaseb) buat memasuki boneka ato medium arwah, trus buat minta tenaga 'ma' dan berkat. Secuplik melodi aslinya sedikit sempat dinyanyikan Jan Petrus Tegai, itupula ga seluruhnya. Karna praktisi kaseb cuma menurunkan ke kalangan tertentu, dan lagu ini dilarang oleh pemerintah belanda dan gereja karena praktis animisme.

André Thomas, you were our guest conductor at Wyoming High School All-State Choir in 2004, and I will never forget the indelible impression you left on me in the school of musical professionalism and leadership. It is now my distinct honor to sing with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and among those who I feel indebted to for that honor, you are among them. Your testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and his promises and covenants to his children, was a distinguishing characteristic of your leadership. I learned that excellence in the capacity in which God has provided us is one way in which we can honor and serve the God that we love. Thank you!

Those were the days, Dr. Thomas, thank you. I too, like many others here, cherish memories of having been a part of musical organizations you created--the Tallahassee Community Chorus, in my case. I now live in Berlin, Germany and sing in the church choir of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
