For me, I can't get away from the M240 because of the color science. They just nailed it, somehow making it feel like both a CCD and CMOS sensor mashed together. I really wish I had access to an ISO dial, but it's not worth losing that color. I'd still take an M10 over any other digital camera than the M240 though!

Boosted contrast/saturation in M10, comparison not really relevant I have M10 and M8 Lower dynamic range can lead to better images. Technical perfection is not perfect mood

@@jls2975 sure but it is slow and old, I think and suggest Olympus e-() line of cameras for such effects they are much more reliable for what it’s worth. When I am paying as much as a Leica I expect real colors too. But your preferences are yours so glad to hear them

I like the more saturated/filmic look of the M 240 better. The M 10 has a more modern sensor, but its photos look indistinguishable from any other modern mirrorless full-frame camera. The blue and yellow tones in the M240 are more unique balancing well between the CCD-sensor based M9 and the more modern M 10. Biggest debit of the M 240 is much more easy highlight clipping. Rule of thumb is to underexpose a bit with the M240 - the preview image on the back screen will always look too dark but the DNG files is just right when post-processing. Probably the most important to get used to with the M 240.

In 2024 you don’t buy an M8 to shoot in the dark. Dynamic range is limited. Do some portraits in proper light and compare the skin tones, especially after a B&W conversion, they have an organic film like quality difficult to beat with a CMOS sensor. In 2024 the M8 is a specialized camera. I mostly shoot with a Q2M, especially in the dark, but also with a Sony A7R3. I use the M8 for specific projects, and in low light, I simply use a tripod and shoot at a low ISO. If I want architectural detail, I don’t use the M8. Another area where the M8 shines is in properly photographing paintings; it is simply amazing using a tripod and the lowest ISO.
@streetjam1225

@@wilfredobenitez7275 yes and yes but, prior to my purchase all of these factors were question marks for me. And no one really showed results like I did, I am a street photographer and my camera should do it all. Such as m10, I know there are better suited cameras for darker times. But when I was making my decision, all of these factors were important. But because everyone wants to show their best work I didn’t know the difference. I think it’s a great camera for the price just not my cup of tea

I have always stayed away from Leica, so this was a great instructional video. Thanks! I shoot a lot of med, and large format in film, and a Fuji xt3 in digital for small format. This video caught my eye, as I wanted to see if there was anything I might be missing. Honestly, and I mean no offense, I feel like I was getting comparable images from my Fuji X Pro 1, and the xt3. I believe the real draw for me, if the wonderful Leica glass, but even today, that may not hold as strong as in the past. I have mostly been a B&W shooter my whole life, so the color rendition is good to know about, but Leica glass is so tack sharp. I believe it competes with my med format gear. Thanks for sharing this video…

I shoot the 135mm f/2 and a $75 70-300 Canon I lens on a Kipon adapter. Works fine. Not the fastest autofocus, but considering they’re used for portraiture and daytime use for the zoom (at the zoo mostly)… they’re fine.
