Hi there Love Hockey East I was at the Friendship series and watched all the games, with the Boston University vs Notre Dame, being the highlight It’s one of my favourite weekends of the year Lachance was awesome in the 2x games and changed the course of the final with that blistering pass 🏒

I like that you guys are doing these preview videos, but I'm a bit curious about the release timing. Only 30 minutes before most of the games start for the weekend doesn't seem like ideal placement. Just a thought!

From Australia here. Re the NHL drafting and these college players being drafted but then playing college games? How does the NHL draft work compared to say, the NFL draft?
@barnsey1607
@barnsey1607 20 күн бұрын
Hey mate, Aussie fan here too. Been a fan since 2009 when I watched a SJ vs Flames game in Calgary when I did the traditional Canadian WHP in Banff. I fell in love with the sharks and have been ever since. Regarding the draft, it's much different from the NFL. For example the NFL is a national sport so generating and farming talent is 100% done from the college system in America. They are drafted as a result of their respective college tenures and are more mature (21-23yrs old) when drafted. Undrafted Free Agents from other countries can still sign from their INT'L development program. All prospects are drafted to make the pro 53 man team and development happens through the depth chart. If not, they are waived with the hope of making practice squad to continue developing to be recalled to pro team. There isn't any junior development options at all while drafted under rights. Ice Hockey on the other hand is a Global sport and the NHL has drafting rights from multiple different countries (Russia, Sweden, Swis, Chec, Finland etc) and their respective leagues (Junior, Amateur Professional and Professional). Draft Year eligibility is from the age of 18-20, however, it's based of American School calendar year, so if you are 18 by the 15 of September you are eligible to be drafted that same year, if you are 18 after the 16th of September you have to wait to the following draft year. 16th of September is our 1st of Jan. Drafting is ONLY for rights and the player and team both equally have the choice on your development path. Example: USA NTDP players traditionally go from program to College, USHL players traditionally go from league to College, Russian players go from MHL to CHL or KHL (Juniors, Amateur-Pro, Pro), same as other European leagues. The next thing is, The NHL is much more complicated than the NFL when is comes to developing players. Each Junior league has its own rules which the NHL tries to work with. For instance, depending of the junior path the prospect will take is dependant on how you can enter the NHL. CHL prospects can sign their entry level contract immediately and still play in the CHL if they don't make their respective pro teams after 9 games. The NCAA on the other hand is purely an amateur league and can't sign your Entry Level contract till you go full pro (NHL or AHL) which means you can't go back. So if you are drafted out of CHL (OHL, WHL, QMJHL) the team that drafted you have the decision to choose whether you are NHL ready or not and they can test that for 9 games in the NHL before the Entry Level contract kicks in to affect. If the prospect isn't ready for the NHL they will be sent back down to their respective CHL team they were drafted from. NCAA, Swedish, Russian all have to fully commit to the NHL or AHL if they go pro. Entry level contracts have 2 years of deferment before they have to go into 3 yr effect. So if you sign a player, doesn't develop to the desired timeframe then you can defer till they do. Hope this Helps.

As a Sharks fan I like how Celebrini said "Im glad I don't have to play Will Smith anymore" after Smith impressed the crowd at the Sharks prospect scrimmage game on July 4th at Tech Cu area in San Jose. I bet he said that at some point after this game too, lol. But it's great that both players have signed contracts with San Jose.

Oops. I have a pesky penchant for misnaming young Will; Ben was a predecessor Smith, who played for BC awhile back. He was pretty decent in his own right, and played in the NHL for awhile. ...and yeah, it was Will's 2nd goal that I had in mind; he had so many, I lost track! I'm happy to be corrected, happier still if you're a BU fan. ; )

@@3Degree_Burns I think Verbeek will completely overhaul the 4th line based on his comments about wanting to get more production out of the bottom 6. I think he could justify keeping Leason since he's had a solid year, but I can't imagine Silf Lundy or Jones returning
