Patients don’t have patience to listen to the pharmacist for 5 minutes

will the patient be comfortable using the inhaler after seeing the pharmacist touching it 1000 time?

Anh Nguyen there are fake models from manufacturers that pharmacists use in the retail setting to show patients how to use it properly

The pharmacist was confused.. He said initially that the medicine was to control her high blood pressure, and then later he said that it was to control your high cholesterol. I think he needs to take a moment to listen to the patient more especially regarding what the doctor has told her (which was nothing) but he kept on asking about things the doctor said.

Most of her questions were very close ended though? Didnt give the patient oppurtunity to take part in the own therapy? Wouldnt questions like that make patient feel like it's a interrogation and would more likely not give up information truthfully?

My pharmacy school professor showed this video and taught us how to interact with patients. This was the reason why I decided to change my career. Now I am accepted to a dental school, and I am so thankful to my health comm professor in a way that how he helped me to realize how desperate pharmacy fields are.

I am just wondering if it would be better if the pharmacist could talk to the patient more slowly. In this way, the patient is better able to digest the information.

This is a very good video and a good representation of how all patient consultations should be performed by pharmacists. The only thing that I would have done differently is when you go over the medication with the patient, you don't want to ask them if it's ok. You want to be direct about it and saying something like "If it's ok with you, I would like to give you some information regarding this medication." From what I learned in my patient skills class (I'm also a pharmacy student), the reason you don't want to ask them if its ok is because going over the medication side effects and how to use it is probably the most important aspect to the patient consultation. You want to make sure that the patient fully understands every aspect of the medication including side effects and what to expect as well as how they should use the medication, which she did very well in the video.

I noticed the closed ended questions too, but she was extremely personable.
@chunwong213 жыл бұрын
She asked closed-ended questions "Do you know what the medication is for", and "Did your doctor tell you how to take the med" and "did your doctor tell you what to expect".
