What is interesting is that each of the sequences assumes that the attacker gives you their momentum - their qi has moved out from their center. Against an attacker who retains their qi within their own center, the techniques would change, as they would be trying to draw your qi out.

Found it! Thank you, Sensei. I've always been frustrated by the difficulty of training alone. This is very helpful. Thanks again for the excellent seminar in Briceland earlier this month. We've been teaching the techniques and the subtleties of the techniques we all learned long ago in every class since then, including last night's class with the two 2nd kyu tests. -Tim, Aikido of Humboldt

There are many techniques in the art of peace. What is shown here is very theoretical and even the sensei himself says that practicing by yourself isn't the point.

I started off training in Aikido & Muay Thai. At first, I thought Aikido was thee most badass, slickest martial art in the world. Now that I'm older, I see it more an active form of meditation like Tai chi, Qi gong or the Japanese Karate Kata.

Aikido is "strangely" very similar to TaiChi and/or Pakua, doing emtpy hands forms. Really good Sensei as I can see from videos (I'm not a pratictioneer). Keep such good work.
