Well done. I appreciate your focus on the human involvement. After all, we are building these things to our advantage and as such we become stewards if we act responsibly. I like to say " we are guests in our gardens and we should act appropriately "

This concept of maximizing photothensis is a fascinating topic. Before i began thinking about in terms of multiple plant relationships as in a forest i only thought about in terms of plant nutrition. Maximizing magnesium in a sap test or soil test to ensure the plant is photothensizing for example. This a permaculture food forest system elevated to a new level. Impressive most impressive

A database of emergent trees and bushes for different climate regions would be a good long-term goal I reckon.

Do you have experience wit establish forestgarden in the forest. I try now to do on the forest adge. I toped some fagus and fraxinus about 10m high. The trees are about 30cm in diameter. But on the forest adge a have also large fraxinus and quercus first bruntches at 15m. I will live tham alone. But if you leve mature trees in the system do they supress grow ore how to deel with it. If i syncronize all other plants around them can i ignore tham?

A plant not native to your area was what I thought he meant. So if signapore daisy is non native to your region it is exotic

In regards to the tree analogy, when it is vertical, it contributes primarily to the hydrological cycle, when it goes horizontal, it contributes primarily to the biological cycle by way of decomposition. It doesn't necessarily stop one cycle for another but rather shifts gears...???

I really enjoyed your talk. I have been using the Syntropic approach on my 1/4 acre of deep sand in Western Australia for the last twenty years. One of my sons has just bought 40 acres and I see the biggest problems of scaling up are the enormous debt that is often required to be a land owner and the problem of managing a large area with regard to fire whilst establishing the beginnings of the system. The debt takes the human out of the system and the laws prevent more humans coming into the system. With regard to commercial viability at the twenty year mark I would say I’m only just achieving abundance. It’s a glorious thing to behold but how does one survive in the lag phase?

The theory is fine, but when it comes to practice, I am really struggling trying to see the elements of the system I am working with as beings with their own rythms. Is there any mind trick to help us here?

On such a steep hill the water will indeed run of instead of sinking in. Have you considered ‘swales’ to keep the water on your property? Rainwater Harvesting seems very important in your case (and it always is I guess)

Loved this video. Thank you so much for your passion and commitment to living in this way. I love the sense of truths embedded in deeper truths... applicable to every area of life. And I was encouraged to hear you say that 10 by 10 metres is big enough... I will definitely be bringing some of this wisdom into my life and my garden. Let's hope many more people get to watch this video series. Life changing ❤

Q: how can i practice these principles in a raised garden bed?
@user-qy2kw9kx3o
@user-qy2kw9kx3o 7 ай бұрын
I have a suggestion. Observe which weeds come up in your raised garden bed, identify the plant family that it comes from and find something else from that family that grows well in your area and that you would prefer. Over time you will achieve an assemblage of plants that support each other and that can be replicated.

Hi Victor. I really enjoyed this video and it got me thinking about "hungry systems". Do you have any experience with this? I mean lack of biomass generation or even lack of shading plants. The answer to fix a hungry system might be as simple as just planting more organic matter-producing plants, but: Is there a more methodical way of approaching this? The system I manage is about to enter a speed-up phase due to rains incoming, so I want to know how to make of this time the most productive for the system.
