I've only watched the first game so far, but I can tell red's strategy for clearing his pieces at the end is very flawed. He's more interested in moving his pieces off of rank 6 than he is at filling his empty ranks at 1 and 2. Like his move at 12:37 when he should have moved a piece from rank 3 to rank 2 instead of the far less effective moving of his piece from rank 6 to rank 5. These consistent flaws are what lost him the race to clear. Although interestingly enough, yellow makes the exact same mistake on the next move. These guys are professionals? I'm just an amateur and I feel I have a better understanding of backgammon logic and statistical probability of dice rolls than these two do.

Maybe this game needs a little bit spice up. Like offside rules to get the puck in the goal.

At 2:00:40 Melanie threw a double 3. After some pondering she moved 2 checkers from point 12 to point 16 and 2 more from point 19 to point 22. The move from point 12 to point 16 is clearly illegal. But Jerry accepted it and threw his dice which was a double 5. So his two checkers on point 21 was blocked. Then he pointed out that Melanie make an illegal move in her previous throw and ask her to alter her move from point 12 to point 15 thus allowing him to use the double 5 throw to escape. My question is whether Melanie need to correct her previous error since Jerry had made his throw before pointing it out. The way I see it is by not pointing out the error he had a double 6 to his advantage, but throwing the double 5 blocked his checkers on point 21. Hence he then pointed the error to Melanie and Melanie obliged him. 😢 What does the rules say in this situation ?
