Hi -- Have you had any issues with the Lonseal 650 epoxy adhesive not adhering green zip flooring? I contacted Lonseal manufacturer and they were not sure. They were not sure about adhesion to the moisture resistant coating applied to the zip system. Any feedback you have would be great.

We emailed you our thoughts, but short answer is no worries at all using their 650 epoxy. In fact, we recommend it and it comes with our complete floor kits!

You guys are great. I'll definitely be a product buyer. Van first of course! What is your opinion of the Transit Trail? Worth $12k? - Probably not, but a lot of nice things already done. Just curious since dealers have an abundance of them now and MSRP or lower is finally a reality. Looking at 148HR. About $71k-$74k. Sadly, in 2014 I bought my Promaster new out the door for $23k. Times change and the $$ is getting wrecked.

This is very nice. Wondering if there is a way to tweak the kit so that the bed can expand, allowing north-south sleeping. (It would have to avoid the power center and extend over the countertop a bit...)
@swellvanco10 ай бұрын
Thanks Tom! Absolutely, we actually made an adjustable bed platform to do just that. It's featured in our other van tour video and you can find it on our website. With our kits as they are, like you said, we'd rid of the divider and electrical column, and set the bed a bit higher to allow for adjustability north-south. Beautiful CNC work with the Zip-R. Maybe there was an opportunity to create (CNC) a rebated lap joint between the sections though? I think ExploristLife did a manual/non-CNC version of the same (rebated lap joint). I'm still torn on the need to screw to the van floor. Typically the remainder of the build (cabinets/seating/weight of electrical/water tank) should be more than sufficient to keep the floor down, and it's not like the screws make the floor sufficiently structural to avoid electrical/plumbing from being separately secured to the van floor (M6/rivnuts etc).
@swellvanco2 күн бұрын
Thanks, yes that's a good thought for sure but we don't think a lap joint is necessary. With the thickness of OSB as it is, we wouldn't want to route into it and compromise its strength at the panel seams. You absolutely don't have to screw the floor in, but there are considerations to both approaches. Cabinets would surely hold the floor in place.

Thank you! There are two versions of our garage cabinets, a lower and taller version. They are both designed to fit the complete EcoFlow Power Kits. I agree, blindly screwing into the floor is scary without knowing what’s on the other side. I think those screw will rust and pull out over time. That floor would not move with the proper adhesive.

What rivnut do you use for center factory hole in ceiling beams? it's oval shape
@swellvanco11 ай бұрын
We use a 1/4-20 Rivnut sold on Amazon from Lokman because this company makes a unique dimension of Rivnut that is the ideal diameter for the stock holes in the Transit. In the oval shaped hole you can install a Rivnut there as is. Plusnuts also work great there. They will both capture most of the edge of the oval. We install them in the center of that oval and have seen no issues to date. Amazon Rivnut link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BFVHCTL/

Wait. Why not spray foam??
@DexterGoneWild11 ай бұрын
Spray foam can trap moisture. It's also extremely flammable.
@conradcoolerfiend10 ай бұрын
spray foam is an excellent insulator, but it is mega permanent. If you ever want to be able to turn it back into a stock van you cannot. Also you will be unable to do any welding repairs to the sheet metal in the future if the spray foam is on the back of it.

The links to the rivetnut install tools isnt there Can you please and does the consumer grade pneumatic tool work with plus nuts too? Thanks
@swellvanco Жыл бұрын
Hey there, we just updated the links in the description. Yes the pneumatic tool can be used with Plusnuts, but we have included a link for a longer mandrel which is necessary for use with Plusnuts, since the threads are longer. For that tool, the mandrel is simply a bolt, so that link works great.

nice work! what size wire are you using for the ceiling light?
@swellvanco Жыл бұрын
We usually use 16/2 duplex marine grade wiring for our ceiling lighting circuit, but this will depend on the length of your wiring run and the lights you use. We advise to always use a circuit calculator to figure out wiring size.

Is there any sealing that needs to take place under the van where the self-taping screws were drilled?
@swellvanco Жыл бұрын
Great question Pamela! We suggest a quick burst of spray paint (primer+paint is a good option for this) wherever a screw goes through for rust inhibition. You could go further if you know that you'd like to travel in situations where things would get really wet (think of driving through a river but not just driving in the rain), then you could seal those screws with silicon or another waterproof type of sealant. Water will really only be able to get through in the case where the van is totally immersed in the water, so for most folks that is not a situation they worry about. So if you think you'll drive through rivers/live in an area prone to flooding, then that would be a good idea. In that case, you could also just glue the floor down and skip the screws.

We have not done any testing on that but from measuring MPG before and after conversions, we believe it will have a very small impact. Our guesstimate is far less than 1mpg.
