They don’t teleport through time. Only space. Space and time are interconnected. So if you teleport in time you’re also teleporting through space

They're teleporting to the relative location where it is now and not where it was 6m ago because it is about teleporting through space to a location now. So if the relative coords 6months ago was a,b,c then it is with respect to Earth and not some other point in the Universe which you're assuming to be. If it were then yes, they'd be in space. But because it is relative to Earth (say Earth's axis) then the a,b,c MOVES through space as well. So the point 6months later is still the same a,b,c Hope that makes it clear.

So as the moon or other planet moves in time through space so too does its relative coord to teleport to in time So if he teleports 6months later to moon or a other visited planet he can go back

There are other potential uses which come to mind as well - rescue operations are often limited by how difficult it is to reach people or to bring essential equipment to them quickly. David's powers could have been used to save people from Everest, shipwrecks, or during natural disasters. He could have saved thousands of people during 9/11, for example.
